♦️Faces of HRC♦️

Behind every preservation success story is a dedicated professional making an impact in our field and community. Faces of HRC highlights the achievements, milestones, and contributions of our members while showcasing the diverse talents that strengthen our committee and the preservation profession.

Celebrating one of HRC’s own! 🎉 Danielle McCormick ( @preservitect ), AIA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate, is an Architect and Associate at Stantec ( @stantec) in Washington, DC, and Co-Chair of the AIA|DC Historic Resources Committee. Her background includes graduate studies in historic preservation with a focus on materials conservation.

Danielle was recently selected as a 2026 Diversity in Preservation Scholar by the National Trust for Historic Preservation ( @savingplaces). Through the program, she will participate in the National Preservation Summit alongside a national cohort of emerging preservation leaders, receive mentorship from accomplished professionals across the field, and engage with practitioners and advocates shaping the future of preservation.

We are thrilled to celebrate this achievement and grateful for the leadership and perspective Danielle brings to HRC. Congratulations, Danielle! 👏

This weekend was a reminder of why I do what I do.

I had the opportunity to represent @aianational through the National Associates Committee at @aiasorg Grassroots and spend time with architecture students from across the country. Their curiosity, passion, and willingness to lead left me feeling inspired and optimistic about the future of our profession.

The future is in good hand ☺️

"How do you know them?"

"... I actually think we met on the internet!" 😂

Here's a quick photo dump of all of the amazing people (and a few places) that I encountered during my quick visit to San Diego for #AIA26.

I could have never dreamed that a podcast (of all things) has connected me to so many fantastic people in the industry. And shoutout to former colleagues and classmates that I ran into as well.

Thank you all for supporting @architectette , thank you for inspiring me, and thank you for helping to make your corner of the world a better place.

AIA26 Recap — Part 2: Immigrant Architects Coalition

What an incredible few days with the Immigrant Architects Coalition at AIA26!

Thanks to the AIA team, we hosted a wonderful book signing event where 18 coauthors of our latest book had the opportunity to sign copies, connect with attendees, and meet new IAC members. We were thrilled to sell out the new book — and we also sold many copies of City Shapers Vol. I!

During AIA26, the IAC Board also officially recognized the jurors and one of the winners of the IAC ARE Scholarship, celebrating the importance of supporting immigrant architects on their path to licensure.

I was also honored to be part of the panel discussion and workshop, “Building Horizons: Advocating for Women and Diverse Leadership,” where we shared our experiences as leaders, reflected on the challenges and opportunities in our profession, and helped others explore their own leadership journeys.

We wrapped up the IAC gatherings with a Happy Hour event, where almost 60 immigrant architects came together for a meetup full of conversation, connection, and community building.

Grateful for everyone who joined us, supported our work, purchased our books, and continues to help build a stronger, more inclusive profession.
