Some stories are about movies. Others are about what movies can do.

Tribeca 25 tells the remarkable story of how Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal helped transform the devastation and uncertainty following 9/11 into something rooted in community, creativity, and culture. The Tribeca Film Festival was created to bring people back to Lower Manhattan, and it grew from a bold idea into one of the world’s major cultural institutions.

What makes this documentary especially interesting is that it isn’t simply a history of a film festival. It’s about New York, resilience, storytelling, and the role art can play when a community is trying to find its way forward.

The film features archival footage and interviews with De Niro, Rosenthal, Martin Scorsese, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Whoopi Goldberg, Nas, Jon M. Chu, Nia DaCosta and others.

And there’s something particularly meaningful about the timing: Tribeca 25 premieres on Netflix September 11, 2026, exactly 25 years after 9/11.

For anyone who loves film, New York history, culture, and the idea that storytelling can actually bring people together, this looks like a documentary worth watching.

It's wild that 9 years after our wedding I'm still totally wild for this one (even if she did cheat on me with a camel). Also, happy national dog day! by @prestonboebel

Another epic Mammoth TUFF in the books. I decided to go for the medium course this year and it actually wasn't that bad! I've been trying to convince people to join this race for years and this year they finally did. It was great to have an awesome crew around.

My goal was to finish the race in 4.5 hours. I almost did except I had to stop to pee 4 times, twice for water, and had a bad front tire puncture where I had to put a tube in. Oh well. by @prestonboebel
