I've been keeping a secret ๐Ÿ‘€ Please welcome my upcoming new indie nail polish brand, @resistancepolish to this world! It launches on October 13th, 2025, currently shipping only within Australia, with the hope to be able to ship internationally further down the line! As someone with strong core values and socio-political beliefs, I wanted to create a brand that truly represents me and my anti-fascist nature in every way. I want to find my own joy and ways to resist the systems of oppression that smother me as a queer, disabled person of colour, and empower others to do the same. To this end, while I will have several non-charity polishes in my catalogue, I also hope to release collections with regularity that I'll be able to donate a portion of profits from to a different charity each. Please go ahead and give @resistancepolish a follow to stay updated on what's to come! I am so incredibly grateful for every single person's support! Edit: I'll absolutely still be doing my swatching and all my usual polish fun with other brands on here!! ๐Ÿฅฐ by @pretty.fluffing.ugly
Not a date to celebrate. The 26th of January marks the beginning of the British colonial powers invading and massacring the indigenous population of so-called Australia. The white colonial government horrifically chooses to celebrate this date as 'Australia Day', a day for beers and BBQs and blue, white, and red, kicking back and reveling in the Aussie spirit, as they continue to commit atrocity upon atrocity on the First Nations people. They continue to suppress and colonise and refuse them a voice for their own community. I'm not white, but I am still an immigrant settler on unceded lands. I live and work and learn on Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woiwurrung lands. I will forever stand in solidarity and support with the First Nations people, their sadness, anger, survival, and resilience. Please engage in activism however you are able to. Support blak businesses, pay the rent, learn and respect the Traditional Owners of the land that you occupy. Land back now. Let me make one thing very very clear. Zionists are not welcome here. Conservatives are not welcome here. Right-wing capitalist bootlickers are not welcome here. Apolitical/centrist cowards are not welcome here. Misogynists, transphobes, homophobes, TERFS, SWERFS, racist and ableist assholes are not welcome here. If you support the apartheid regime of Israel, a state that is actively committing genocide, and you don't believe in a free Palestine, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. I will not be engaging with any bullshit Zionist rhetoric or logical fallacies that are sent my way. My page is a safe space for me and for my community, and I will ensure that it remains that way. Whether you are an individual or a brand, if your values don't align with mine, unfollow me and remove yourself from my space. I definitely didn't totally forget to keep posting on here! ๐Ÿ˜… But here's my second polish for this month's @smidgenofus which actually closes this Friday, if you're still wanting to pick it up!! I LOVEEEE plum cake! It's so good! Literally such a winter/Christmas holiday staple back where I'm from in South India (even if my family didn't particularly celebrate Christmas) and boy was I confused and annoyed when I realised that this is impossible to find here in Australia? Naturally then, a plum cake inspired polish was indicated for the winter/holiday theme! A deep, brownish-plum base with an iridescent gold shimmer as well as a mix of gold and silver scattered holo. Opaque in 2-3 coats. It's SO COOL that I got to join @smidgenofus this month, and I had to polishes to contribute! It's available for purchase now for a week as pre-order! @auroramusic has just such an incredible voice. While I haven't listened to all that many of her songs, the few that I have listened to have always stuck with me because they're so hauntingly beautiful. So when I found out the theme for October's @smidgenofus was winter/holiday, I knew that I wanted to do a polish inspired by the song Winter Bird! A deep wintery grey-blue base packed with a rainbow of different iridescent shimmers as well as scattered holo. This polish looks like a moody grey in indirect light, but comes alive in direct sunlight! It dries to a slightly matte finish, so a glossy top coat is recommended. Opaque in 1-2 coats. Soooo this @resistancepolish first anniversary launch has done so well beyond my wildest dreams and I'm just like in absolute shock?? I am BEYOND grateful to every single person who's been so supportive of me and my brand! ๐Ÿฅน I am also so very very very tired. I started a new job at the end of August which has been really cool, but I am also starkly reminded of truly just how limited I am in my physical capacity due to being disabled. But that is partially why I've had to extend my order processing times, just because I truly am at the limits of my ability to do things, and I'm trying to not push past it and end up crashing instead ๐Ÿ˜… Anyway, all that to say, I'm also behind on just posting stuff (and life in general lol)! So here's Wanna Make It Official? Our wedding polish, now forever immortalised in the @resistancepolish catalogue! And also, a massive shout-out to my spouse @artful.david who's been such an incredible help! My @safiyany x @holotaco collection box arrived the other day and I decided to put my swatching obligations aside for a day to wear this collection and of course, I couldn't help but do that classic skittle mani! Aside from grabbing Chandelier Showers earlier this year, this collection is actually the only thing I've picked up from Holo Taco this year, and it is STUNNING. A bit of background, I've been watching @safiyany on YouTube for close to a decade now, and I've always loved her content, the dedication and amount of work she puts into her videos, and the authenticity that she displays, and I've found her very relatable (to no one's surprise, I too am a theatre major). I used to watch @simplynailogical and while I was into nail polish, it was a fairly casual interest with the occasional polishes that I'd pick up from the chemist. Then the Volume 1 @safiyany x @holotaco collab collection was released and I HAD to pick it up, loved every single polish, turned this Instagram account into one for nail art, and ended up diving into the hobby, and eventually got to explore a whole bunch of indie brands. And eventually, I ended up where I am now, with my own. All that to say, when the Volume 2 collab collection was announced, the sentimentality was definitely a big factor in my decision to pick it up, but I've got no regrets either because I absolutely adore these polishes! Crescent Moon Taco was actually my first topper with shaped glitters (aside from the one I'm prototyping rn ๐Ÿ˜…) and while I am probably still going to be very very picky with the kind of these larger glitter toppers that I might get in the future, I do actually adore this one and I'm inclined to give them more of a chance! Realised I haven't posted here in like 10 days oops ๐Ÿ˜… But like what even is time?! I've just been stressed and busy and I feel like time has been RACING! Anyway, I dug up some pics of this mani that I did like a month ago and totally forgot about, because I've been busy swatching my own polishes that I haven't released yet, or a hodgepodge of prototypes ๐Ÿคฃ So this product list is me being fairly sure, but I could still be wrong! I'm so so glad that @luridlacquer Queen of the Prairie was available as an overpour because it is STUNNING!! My phone camera was not a fan though, because it kept messing with the colour accuracy! I was regretting having missed out on @cupcakepolish Demon Hunter when it initially came around to @polishpickup so when it returned for Rewind, I absolutely picked it up! It's a gorgeous thermal but I don't find the warm state to be very flattering on me personally, but I ADORE the cold state, and I think the shimmer in it also looks more pronounced in the cold state! I threw on my @resistancepolish Sleepless Nights on top for a lil extra dazzle, and I really enjoyed the combination!
