Spent the evening at @thewiggleroomtm_cpt with @ismaeel_chef for a 5 star fine dining culinary & music experience.

A menu that changes each week, a playlist that speaks to the process of he’s recipes. The first of its kind in Cape Town and definitely an experience you should take part in.

There’s a first time for everything right? Awe!
In celebration of our 9 year musical escapade, we’re making a First Thursday debut in collaboration with encounters – an intimate listening bar with a retro future feel in the heart of Cape Town.

Encounters was designed by Paris based studio @supaform, and is fitted with a Lucid Audio sound system.

@dj_wata_mami and LAUREN (@prettybirrd) make their Garden Groove debuts and as per usual our residents are in full support!

Growing up my dad would wake my sister and I up from our sleep on Saturday mornings playing around on virtual DJ and for as long as I can remember music has always been a part of my life.

A few months ago we were sitting around the table at Easter lunch with @jena_sekwa and @streezusplease and my family yapping away, Jena and my dad bonded over their shared love for music and a few days later she messaged me to say she’d like to leave my dad with her controllers while she’s away. I was so excited for him to be playing more, and anticipated being woken up by 90s rnb on Saturdays again but he ended up teaching in how to mix instead.

Over the last couple of months I’ve been filling the little free time that I have in between running my two businesses with learning to mix and it’s brought me here, to my first public set at @sekndnature.kalkbay

We might have enough DJ’s in SOUTH Africa right now, but don’t have enough lovers of music, creators, curators. I’m one of them.

I’m feeling thankful for this new journey.

Today I spoke at Disa Primary in Bontehuewel teaching their grade 7 students how to find their purpose in life. From the moment I walked in they were so full of energy and welcomed me with the warmest sniles and excitement.

My talk was about self awareness, we did an IKIGAI exercise on what they love, what they’re good at and what they think the world/people need more of.

We then spoke about how they can turn those things into a career.

I let them say the things they wrote out loud to help them practice speaking things into existence and reminded them of the importance of support and encouragement when others are speaking about their passions to them.

They listened, engaged and asked me questions that reminded me why I do what I do.

I think I needed today’s talk more than they did.
