🐾 Pack walks are about so much more than just walking dogs together!

At Primal Evolution K9, our pack walks are designed to help dogs and their owners build confidence, practice leash manners, and develop neutrality in real-world environments.

We aren’t here to force friendships or encourage every dog to say hello. We’re here to teach dogs that they can peacefully coexist around other dogs without needing to interact.

It’s official!

I’m excited to officially be able to offer AKC evaluations through Primal Evolution K9!

Whether you’ve been working toward a title with your dog or you’re looking for a new goal to work toward together, I can now evaluate for:

• Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
• AKC Community Canine (CGCA)
• AKC Urban CGC (CGCU)
• AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
• AKC Trick Dog titles

I’m really excited to add this to what I offer and help more dogs and their owners put all of their hard work to the test. 🖤

Evaluations will be available individually, and I’ll also be sharing more soon about upcoming CGC classes + testing opportunities through Primal Evolution K9.

You’re allowed to outgrow people, habits, routines, careers, mindsets, and even versions of yourself.

You don’t need some huge breaking point. You don’t need permission. You can literally just decide you’ve had enough, change direction, and start building something different.

Hot take. Not every dog wants to be friends with your dog and I promise, that’s okay

Some dogs love other dogs. Some are selective. Some can exist around other dogs perfectly fine but have absolutely zero interest in interacting with them.

And somewhere along the way we created this weird expectation that a “good” or “well socialized” dog should want to play with every dog they meet.

They don’t.

Socialization isn’t about making your dog social. It’s teaching them how to exist in the world around other dogs, people, environments, sounds, etc. without feeling like they have to interact with everything.

Your dog can walk past another dog without saying hi.
They can share space without playing.
They can have boundaries.
They can simply not like certain dogs.

We don’t expect ourselves to be friends with every person we meet, so I’m not sure why we expect it from our dogs.

Sometimes neutrality is the goal, and honestly, I’d take a dog who can calmly mind their own business over one who thinks every dog they see is their new best friend. 🤷‍♀️

Normalize letting dogs just exist around each other without forcing interaction.

Join us for a structured pack walk focused on neutrality, confidence, leash skills, and learning how to exist calmly around other dogs.

No forced interactions. No chaotic greetings. Just dogs learning to move together, focus on their handler, and be neutral in a group setting.

Listen, tethering SUCKS at first 😂

The whining.
The pacing.
Getting up and laying back down 47 THOUSAND times.
Staring at you like surely you’re going to let me up now.

And this is usually the point where people give in. They see their dog uncomfortable or frustrated and assume, “This isn’t working.”

But this is the part you have to get through.

Because eventually they realize nothing is happening. They don’t need to follow you around. They don’t need to constantly be doing something. And whining isn’t going to make the tether disappear.

So they stop fighting it. They lay down. They exhale. And eventually, they sleep.

That’s the part I’m looking for.

Tethering isn’t about forcing your dog to stay in one spot. It’s teaching them that doing absolutely nothing is an option.

You can’t teach an off switch if you always turn the pressure off the second they don’t like it

I’ve noticed a HUGE flood of trainers bashing other trainers on my feed lately… and even trainers bashing owners for how they choose to train their own dogs.

When did dog training become this?

We’re supposed to be helping dogs and educating owners not sitting online picking apart everyone who trains differently than us.

You don’t have to agree with every method, tool, or training philosophy. I definitely don’t 😂 But disagreeing doesn’t mean we need to tear each other down.

Train your dogs. Help your clients. Educate people on what you believe in and why.

Let your work speak for itself.

I don’t want a robot. I want a dog.

Nothing frustrates me more than people who think dogs are robots. Training isn’t about creating robots.

I don’t expect my dogs to spend every second staring at me, walking in a perfect heel, or waiting for their next command.

The whole point of training is to give them the skills to actually exist in the real world.

Go on the hike. Sniff. Explore. Be a dog.

But also know how to slow down. Hold a down when asked. Pass another dog without losing your mind. Come when called. Settle when nothing exciting is happening.

I want my dogs to have freedom, but freedom comes with responsibility.

The goal isn’t a robot. The goal is a dog you can actually do life with.
