Connection is invaluable.

Presence although often so obvious, is often so easily missed in the speed and pace of our lives. Taking time to create space to offer our fullest attention to learning, to eat together, to connecting with others and to being present and mindful is one of the greatest gifts we can offer ourselves and each other.

And it doesn’t have to end at Primal Gathering, it is a skill we can weave more into all aspects of our lives. The ability to stop for a moment, slow things down, breathe and offer our fullest attention to what is in front of us, so as to really be imbued with the miracle of what it means to gather and really see, feel and be with one another.

Is what supports a real depth of intimacy.

If your curious as to how the medicine of Primal Gathering continues outside of the event

Starting a dance is starting a fire 🔥

Your spark is where it comes from.

If you strike too hard too soon, you break up the kindling.

It requires attention, tuning in to what/who you’re working with.

Sensing what the kindling needs, and which strands are likely to set everything/one else alight.

Once you’ve got your first flame, that flame needs to be tended to, protected, encouraged in its dance to meet the other strands/people.

The beginning of the fire is a vulnerable place, there needs to be a safe container for the blaze to emerge.

With the right support, the dancing flames meet, heat, and spark the others, until separate entities burn as one.

The fire/dance has emerged, you can feel it.

Your relationship to the fire then changes, you are in service, feeding it - you don’t control it, the fire burns itself.

All you can do is witness, support and be charged by its warmth.

The fire/dance then alchemises all of the material tension into thin air, spirit radiates outwards as light.

Feed it the right logs at the right time and it will keep you warm and alive all through the night.

As the dance subsides, you can see it in the glowing embers, a magical expression of gratitude for the shift that has been collectively created.

And within that, there is peace.

Love to my bro @nickhird1 for starting this blaze with me & @wildingwithharry for his wisdom on the furnace, also to @primalgathering & @sheepdrove for offering this space for me to create a dancing furnace.

What does it mean to be a guardian?

Anyone can plant a wildflower, but what does it mean to be a guardian of that wildflower?

At Sheepdrove Organic Farm, we sat with Lizzie their Botanist to understand why planting wildflowers supports the wider grassland, and how in doing so we reinvigorate the soil.

Planting something into the ground is the first step, but learning why we’re planting it down, how it supports the wider ecosystem and what it needs from us to further support its health, is what supports our ability to become mindful stewards.

Humans are stewards, of the natural world at our core, and remembering our power to create ecological resilience, is key to our flourishing as a species.

If you want to learn more about these skills, join us on Primal Skills is our new hybrid online and in person community where we come together each month to learn ancestral skills your great-grandmother knew by heart and weave them in for modern times.

Inside, you’ll learn to:

🍄 Forage for edible mushrooms with confidence
 [Nov 17th]
🍷Plant Based Cooking
[Dec 15th]
🌱Natural Dyeing [Jan 12th]

Alongside in-person events days including December 5th with our annual mushroom foraging walk in london 🌹

Live classes, real teachers living their craft, a hive to practise with.

No bee makes honey alone.

Chris Park, joined us as a knowledgeable expert who makes his own honey and mead back on his own land in Oxfordshire this Primal Gathering at @sheepdrove organic farm.

He shared with us,

That one bee, in her whole life, makes about a twelfth of a teaspoon. The jar on your table is the work of thousands.

The bees know the few miles around them flower by flower. When one finds blossom, she flies home and dances the way there, so her sisters can find it too.

They take what the land offers and leave it more fertile than they found it. Every flower they feed from, they help to seed.

When the cold comes, they gather close and take turns at the edge, so no one carries the winter alone.

Chris, is a friend and epic contributor to Primal, and in spring be sharing more on our new platform

Wow, what a weekend.

Primal Harvest Gathering, was an incredible coming together of experts, participants hungry to learn and extraordinary musical talent.

Together we felt the ancestral depth and communion of what it means to share time and space with the land, eat locally sourced and organic food and sit by the fire.

For many of us we arrive home with both love and grief in our hearts. Love for the depth of care we felt being mutually held in @sheepdrove space together, and grief that these spaces that combine community and land learning are not more common place. As we return to our everyday lives.

The longing to learn and return to the land, is felt strongly in our hearts and we miss you already.

If you are home and still feel drawn to continue learning we’ve launched Primal Skills, a platform to support ancestral learning for modern times, comment SKILLS, to learn and join us in-person workshops and gatherings seasonally.

We’ll send you a message, with more information about how to continue to weave this fabric at home and in your own lives.

With a lot of love in our hearts, we are connected, with our feet on the soil, and our hearts in our hands

Love, Primal

For a few days, hundreds of people step away from the usual rhythm of life and come together with a shared intention.

Primal Harvest Gathering, a land regeneration gathering where we learn to forage mushrooms, tend fire in ancestral ways, plant wildflower bulbs, learn bee keeping and how to build a business that is in service to life.

Everyone arrives with something of their own to bring, and somewhere along the way, all of those different people, stories and perspectives become part of the same gathering.

That’s what we love about Primal.

You never quite know what the weekend will hold, or who you’ll meet along the way. But you leave knowing you were part of something that only happened because everyone showed up and took part.

And after this week, the gates will be open.

This is your last week to secure your place at Primal. Come gather with us.

Land learning, doesnt have to stop at Primal Gathering

Primal Gathering is a land regeneration festival in the UK happening on Oct 2-4th, where you learn how to forage your own mushrooms, make tinctures, tend fire in ancestral ways, plant wildflower bulbs and learn all about bee-keeping. It’s a space to meet likeminded community and deepen your sense of belonging to each other and the natural world and learn about integral ways to build businesses and dance to folk music. So much can move during these days we spend together, and your inspiration to learn is bound to continue.

That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with Ecoversity.

When you head home from Sheepdrove, the learning can keep going. You’ll have access to the Medicine Making Around the World Herbalism Summit, taking place October 14–16, as well as a 7-day trial of Not Your Average Garden Club EXCLUSIVE to ticket holders.

So the weekend doesn’t have to be the end of the conversation. You can take what sparked your curiosity at Primal and keep following it when you’re back home but this offer is only exclusive to Primal Gathering participants. So you’ll want to grab your ticket, to get your 7-day free trial.

Keep learning.
Keep asking questions.
Keep getting your hands in the soil.
Keep discovering what else there is to know.

For us, that’s part of what a gathering should do. Give you something to carry with you, and somewhere to keep going once you leave.

Nathan Gallagher, founder of Lovejam shares his experience at Primal Gathering, and how festivals are in some ways a template for alternative culture.

Events like LoveJam, and Primal Gathering are a real melting pot, of art, culture, ideas and have the power to really influence and impact society.
Through creating spaces where people can show up as themselves.

LoveJam is real friend of Primal Gathering and ally in the festival world.

We’ll come together to learn how to forage for mushrooms, the fundamentals of bee keeping, plant wildflower bulbs, and learn how to tend fire. We’ll stimulate our senses with how to build sacred businesses, authentic relating and nature guardianship!

Meet Ebony King, an eco-somatic practitioner, group facilitator and space holder whose work explores the relationship between our bodies and the living world.
And she’s coming to join us at Primal Harvest Gathering!
A land regeneration gathering happening on October 2-4th where we will learn tend and steward elements of nature.

Through Ebony of Earth, she creates spaces for people to experience nature not simply as something around us, but as a relationship we are already part of.

What Ebony brings is a way of understanding nature through the body. Her work explores the connections between our nervous systems, biological rhythms and the ecosystems we inhabit, inviting us to move beyond thinking about nature and into a more felt experience of belonging.

At Primal, Ebony will guide Eco-Somatic Rising, a morning practice combining eco-somatic principles, Jellyfish Breathwork and the Solar Tera Sequence. Together, these practices create space to settle the nervous system, awaken the body and begin the day in rhythm with the land around us.

Join us and learn about mushroom foraging, plant wildflower bulbs in meadows, learn about bee keeping, how to tend fire. Join talks on sacred business, authentic relating and nature guardianship and frolic to an abundance of folk music.
