Our next single “Real Talk” is an anthemic Autism confession of the fight in a world that forces you to eradicate anything that is you. Every day, a silent cure, longing to be more. Our neurodiverse minds follow their own pathways, relying on personalised structure and repetition to thrive. Yet the systems around us demand we block those paths and become something we’re not. The unique self gets hidden in illusion. We may break the illusion early or on the road, but it is never too late to find out that all this real talk has no meaning. 'Real Talk' is OUT NOW! The second single of our upcoming 'Archetype' EP Exactly one year ago, after 18 years of being misdiagnosed, going through therapy, medication, self-medicating, and spending 7 years addicted to Xanax and Zolpidem, I finally got diagnosed with Autism. Looking back, the signs were there all along. From an early age, I had tics, I was rocking, banging my head, flapping my hands, having bursts of energy that would lead to small injuries and neighbors wondering if I was losing it. I had an immense fear of figuring out social situations, constantly changing myself to please others, which would end in exhaustion crashes. I was often seen as distant or uninterested because I was living in my own dream world. Even though I was bullied and had to change schools, my close friends lovingly called those moments “Mila accelerations,” joking about how I would take off mid-conversation or drift off to another planet while someone was talking. Autism in women presents differently, because many of us mask by mimicking others’ behavior. The model of autism is based on men, so women often get misdiagnosed or diagnosed way later. The constant analyzing, trying to understand everyone, and living in fear that I upset someone took a lot out of me. Now I’m living without those layers. There are days where I want to retract completely from the world and disappear just to feel okay, but I push myself to stay because I want to continue this path. I am still finding my way in this industry, a world that both works against me and allows me to express myself. I’m grateful to be with someone who pushes me to be myself and stop masking, who sees the beauty (and yes, the humor) in these quirks. This platform can be forceful for sensitive people. I already get tired from small social interactions during the day, let alone endless people online.. Real talk is exactly this: pushing on with what makes me me, even when it makes me seem “too much” or “out of place” in a world not designed for us. Since I stopped numbing myself and started living how I actually want, the tics have gotten stronger, maybe because I’m finally allowing them instead of hiding them. 🖤 by @primalxbaby

Primal Baby LIVE @grenswerk last month, and five months pregnant. I got worried in the days in advance if I was able to do the show, as my breath support seemed to have declined, something I didn’t think about, but happens during pregnancy due to reduced use of your abs. And our new repertoire is vocally the most challenging (and exciting) one I have ever done. I had some faith that it would sort itself out somehow, and during the show a bigger connection kicked in that made it one of the best shows we’ve had uptill now.
