Chicka Chicka I’m baaaack!!! Hi friends!! ❤️😊 I have missed this sweet community so deeply.

Most circumstances haven’t changed or gotten easier since I last posted in October 2022, when I said that the past year had been one of the hardest of my life. Many days I have still been trying just to keep my head above water. Truly, I could copy & paste that whole caption from last year’s post ➡️

But lately, I’ve slowly been feeling weights being lifted off… This is the most “me” that I’ve felt in a really long time. I feel joyful again, excited to see people, being aware of little nudges of the Lord’s kindness and provision. 💛

I was scrolling back through my camera roll recently to remember part of an upcoming craft, and I was flooded with happy memories from several years ago when I was new to teaching & so eager to share that excitement with anyone who would listen (y’all!!!!).

I’ve had the desire to jump back in here, but have felt really guilty for not replying to messages, keeping up with email signature order updates, yadayada 😅🙈 I dug myself into a deep hole saying I didn’t “deserve” to show up here again until I could remedy those things & know I’d do better moving forward. But honestly, who in the world knows when that will be 😂 So today I decided that I’d show up here with a heartfelt apology for being absent in our conversations, gratitude for the grace I already know you will extend to me, and excitement for the light that I’m beginning to see at the end of the tunnel. I have faith that better & brighter days are ahead - and I know a big part of that is allowing my community back in and drawing inwards & shutting people out when things get hard.

Hey 😊 Really, really long time no see 👋🏼

I didn’t mean to take a whole year off of Instagram 🤷🏼‍♀️ This past year has been one of the hardest of my life. There have been incredibly sad, heartbreaking, exhausting moments - but, there have also been opportunities to lean & depend on the Lord like I never have before. I’ll leave it there for now - not all of the details are mine to tell (right now anyway) 💕

When things get hard, I tend to draw inwards (stop replying to messages, etc.). Which I know is the opposite of what’s helpful 😂

There are still some heavy things going on, but I feel like I’m finally surfacing to catch my breath. And part of that is realizing how much I’ve missed this sweet, uplifting community.

This is one of my faaaavorite October activities! 🕷

We read the book Argh, Spider in which a spider tries to convince a family why he would make a good pet. Then, we did the writing freebie from @misskindergarten and the directed drawing from @firstandkinderblueskies. We finished it off with marble roll painting which I LOVE because it’s mess-free, quick, and really fun! 🕸

No prep + high engagement = saving me! 🙌🏼

We’re working on comparing numbers up to 10. I got this awesome idea from the Hillary at @teachingwithoutfrills (the queen of meaningful activities that require no/little prep). It came from her “Comparing Numbers” center pack that you can find in her TPT store 😊

Got this message by 9:30am every day for the past 2 weeks 😂 AKA teaching kindergarten at the beginning of the year! 🤣

Hi! I’m still alive!! 🤗😂 I’m not kidding when I say that I have fallen asleep sitting up EVERY SINGLE NIGHT since school started!! Haha

It is so sweet to have kids in person again but MAN I’m exhausted 😂 Looking forward to a weekend with absolutely zero plans! 🙌🏼

Meet the Teacher #3: ✅

It felt so good to welcome families back into my classroom today! One mom said “I can feel how much you love your students radiating from you” and I was 😭😭. That’s the best I could hope for! 💕

I can’t wait to start building our class family tomorrow! But first…. sleep. 🤣

✨ This is one of my favorite back-to-school traditions! ✨

Each year I record myself reading the book The Night Before Kindergarten and give the link to my kiddos for them to watch the night before the first day of school. ❤️

I love doing this because:
- it’s easy and FREE!
- I think it helps make my kids (& families) feel excited & more comfortable about coming to school the next day
- You can do it with any book
- Emphasizes the importance & enjoyment of reading from (literally) the first day of school
- …and I get to wear my favorite pajamas 😂🍩

I print the QR code/link on a “sweet dreams” poem and attach a small bag of “ready confetti” for them to sprinkle under their pillow. Would you be interested for me to share more about that later this week? 😊✨

💦☀️🌴 Headed home & already missing my happy place!! I am so thankful that I got to spend a few days reading, soaking up the sun & splashing around in the pool! 🌴☀️💦

My family has been coming to this hotel for more than 10 years! I look forward to it every year 🤩🤗
