PV is proud to present Esoterrorism, the sophomore album from Athens, Ga., noise rock outfit @johnny.falloon. Lead single “California” is available on all streaming platforms today, with the full release arriving November 6 on cassette and digital formats.

For those unfamiliar, Johnny Falloon consists of @john.edmondson (vocals, lyrics), @clementi.jojo (drums), @fortify_me (bass, production), @_hunl0 (sampling/synthesizer), @scott_m_kelley (saxophone). Edmondson, Clementi, and Greer first convened in late 2022 to perform several impromptu and off-the-cuff performances. The then-trio continued in this fashion, creating and destroying their sound and performance expectations constantly, a process leaving only the group’s bones behind. The surviving skeleton, which now includes saxophone and a sampler, finds its strength between enigmatic and varied vocal delivery, inspired, frantic, and enduring percussion, inventive and unconventional bass lines, and beautiful, contorted saxophone licks, all being tied together by the ambient punishment of Hunlen’s sampler/synthesizer setup.

For their second album, the Johnny Falloon project returns with Esoterrorism, a record infused with personal experience, fear, magic, and sweat. Singer and lyricist, John Edmonson, describes the record as “hovering in a space between beauty, pain, meat, and the body’s relation to a growing digital world.” Recorded over four days outside of Athens, Ga., the group’s frenetic approach to writing and performing yields a dense and excitingly varied 25-minute break from reality. The band’s sound grounds itself in the pulse of post-punk, but stretches into a more abrasive, noisier territory.

PV is honored to be handling exclusive USA distro for a bundle of new @pacificcitysoundvisions cassette reissues.

First up is a new tape edition of Spencer Clark’s 2011 Fourth World Magazine masterpiece, The Spectacle Of Light Abductions, which allegedly documents a “classic meeting of people with their own astral selves.”

Clark is an artist who needs no introduction; his influence can be heard across much of contemporary lo-fi and experimental music, and Spectacle remains one of the finest moments in his never-ending discography. In all honesty, it’s always tied with Bamboo For Two when it comes to choosing our favorite release of his.

Next up is the first-ever tape edition of Tarzana’s Alien Wildlife Estate, a brilliant 2015 collaboration between Clark and Finnish artist @janderzen. Deep, psychedelic exotica zones on this one.

Then we have a reworked, 100-minute double tape that includes Clark’s 2023 epic Neoplatonic Aquatic Symposiums, released under the Fourth World Magazine III moniker. A new collection, Temple of Isis (presumably named after the monument in Pompeii), is the other cassette here.

And last but certainly not least, the first-ever tape edition of 2010’s Bamboo For Two, a Monopoly Child Star Searchers classic featuring @james._ferraro on keys, @edicoescn on “waterfalls,” and @orphanfairytale on marimba.

We are excited to announce the debut album from Atlanta’s @bradleygainesweaver, which is one of the most impressive indie records of the year. Weaver’s S/T is an exquisitely crafted, deeply psychedelic collection that recalls the finest moments of Cut Worms, the Woodsist catalog, or even ‘70s McCartney.

Prior to the release of his first solo singles, Weaver spent recent years backing up the likes of @perpetualdoom artist @romanticdramedy and @sid_jerrdan at Atlanta-area gigs. And much like the work of those two artists, Weaver’s song catalog is chock full of brilliantly strange hooks and cosmic country-infused arrangements. Dreamy falsetto harmonies layered over twangy guitar blend the nostalgia of ‘70s folk with the warmth of a summer road trip.

Album opener “Don’t You Feel Old” is a gentle ballad that will immediately appeal to fans of PV alumni Little Wings and Ruby of Thanks. In all honesty, it’s the perfect introduction to Weaver’s sonic world; an infectious bit of country-folk-pop that sounds like a lost collaboration between Ram-era Paul and Linda and the International Submarine Band.

The one-two punch of “A Good Run” and “Mr. Moonshine Man” is further proof of Weaver’s extraordinary songcrafting ability, but for us, the ultimate moment on this record is perhaps the bittersweet drifter “Tangerine.” It’s a three-minute cut that has all the makings of a modern classic, showcasing Weaver as a forward-thinking singer-songwriter who stands out among Atlanta’s current indie crowd.

In terms of modern-day American songwriters, he’s definitely one to keep an ear on, and this full-length debut is truly a grand statement, illustrating the multi-instrumentalist’s stylish lyricism and laid-back charm. Major recommendation.
