Thank you for kind words @johngrantofficial “I’ve just been listening again to A Snake Crawling up a Broken Ladder by Vaclav Havelka. We met the first time I played in Prague which I was very excited about. He walked by me backstage in the venue where we played and smiled at me like we had always been friends and he hadn’t seen me for a long time and missed me. And from then on we WERE friends. I didn’t know he could sing or had a band but I found out soon thereafter. The band is called Please The Trees. Vaclav has a rich, smooth voice that feels like it has always been your friend. But you haven’t heard it for a long time and you missed it. He also has great taste to go along with it. He carefully constructs fragile but at the same time powerful soundscapes in which to clothe that distinct yet familiar voice. I hear a lot of singers in him: Scott Walker, Brendon Perry, Tim Hardin, Lee Hazelwood but he sounds like himself, an individual. Do yourself a favor.”

Shows this week:
20.10. @citarna_unijazz with @niesner.tomas (20:00)
22.10. výstavní pavilon, Kopřivnice (19:30)

We are pleased to say, that on October 1st 2026 we are releasing a single entitled “California” for our upcoming record.

We’ve been working and sweating really hard to write and lovingly tend to what will become our proudest creative achievement thus far.

@problems_music @bayou___princess and @organicallyprogrammed have agreed to celebrate with us, presented by the wonderful @dosedbyanangel

Love you all, see you soon at the @roadhouseathens

A dream come true. My favourite - and one of the best - printed music magazine, @mojo4music reviews my record A Snake Crawling Up a Broken Ladder in issue #395 (October 2026)! @uefa_jw describes it as “Prague correspondent’s star-studded loner folk” and concludes: “Slither up and be enlightened.”

For me, having the record reviewed by MOJO is an extraordinary moment. It represents a level of international recognition I could hardly have imagined when I was making these songs confined to bed during my recovery. It is particularly meaningful because this entire international response has happened organically and independently, without an international publicist or PR campaign behind the release.

To see the album travel from the Czech Republic to publications such as @thequietus @guardian @aquariumdrunkard @ravensingstheblues @theselfportrait_gospel and now MOJO has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’m deeply grateful to every writer and editor who has taken the time to listen to the record, engage with it, and help it find its way to new listeners.

The record is out now via @animal_music_label digital, LP & CD. @primordial.void Void handles distribution in the US and released the record on audio tape.

Thank you @animal_music_label @primordial.void Void, @brandoneggleston Vojtěch Havel, @rebeccavera_ @munlyandthelupercalians @davidlboulter @alois.zatloukal @niesner.tomas @6organs @marisaandersonmusic @matthewleeswanson Tony Crow @thorharris Ondřej Krátký @jimmyjacktoth @dallasacid @williamtylertn @radwanghazimoumneh @danabuoy @zuza_led @skala__lukas @jjgolden1973 @obsessed.w.sound @duranjah @dizzee_hroch & to everybody for listening. 🙏🏾🤍
