I am so happy to be a part of the body of artists and designers belonging to “La casa magica”.

In a show that evokes inherent mysticism and ritualism inside of home spaces, it felt befitting to speak of my own spiritual family, My upbringing in a house of Umbanda and the everyday magic that it is silently woven in the quotidian rhythm of our lives.

This body of work speaks of the kingdom of Jurema and of the sacred Mandacaru.

This is a small preview, inspired by this canticle of Chica Xavier - here sang by her granddaughter and my sister @luaxavier.

More in the weeks to come.

Come see the show at @nilufargallery in Via Della Spiga 32, from the 21st until the 26th of April

“The moment that we dream of something, we create a preset expectation. We live in a reality where everything is an expectation and you’re constantly failing this idea that you have of yourself and you forget to be yourself. I feel like the idea to strive for perfection is the worst enemy that anyone can have in their lives, particularly people that are creative because there is so much room in contradiction. And once you’re not afraid of contradicting yourself of just being whatever mess you are, you find your authenticity and you find your voice. “
