I was commissioned by David Bell at LU Arts to create a pamphlet for their CLEAVED INTO project, as part of the Weird Modernisms conference at Loughborough University in July.

CLEAVED INTO was produced by NEUSCHLOSS; staff and post-graduate students at Northumbria University who share an interest in collaborative and collective art making. Following Prompt 06 Halved, participants wrote about one of the sculptures on campus for 20 minutes and then halved the text until only 39 words remained.

This weekend (4th & 5th July) I’m taking part in the National Festival of Making, in Blackburn, Lancashire.

The National Festival of Making is a celebration of making, from the kitchen table to the factory floor, through a programme of art, manufacturing and making with communities. I am really pleased to have been selected to deliver a Dada Typography inspired collage workshop as part in this year's incredible FREE festival programme. Come along and create your own poster with me in the Library in the Town Centre, between 11am-5pm.

To see what else is on, and read more about this year's programme see @thefestivalofmaking or visit www.festivalofmaking.co.uk

To mark the approaching World Cup and the Pressing Matter's challenge to produce a print using black and blue, I have created this piece. When the football match is so excruciatingly close you cannot bear to watch the last few minutes in case the wrong team scores, 'they think it's all over, it is now'! @pressingmattersmag #pressingmattersinsert35 by @printandlanguage

Along with LU Arts, I will be at the University of Leicester’s annual Celebration of Heritage this time next week.

Come and join us between noon-4pm in the Students’ Union, Percy Gee building, Saturday 21 March, for this free event.

I use the heritage craft of letterpress to celebrate and reflect on the meaning of our intangible cultural heritage, such as the language associated with football in this work called “What a Game! A Dictionary of Football Commentary”.

Letterpress has been designated as an Endangered Craft by the Heritage Crafts Association @heritagecrafts

The blue is a nod to #CoventryCityFootballClub and #LeicesterCityFootballClub
With thanks to Kenneth Wolstenholme for his inspiration.

A new project for a new year.
.
As someone with ADHD, I tend to forget what I have read as soon as the book is closed. So I thought I would create dust jackets for some of the letterpress printed books I have started to collect.
.
This one is particularly close to my heart because it outlines the history of Coventry's cultural and industrial heritage. When I read it I noticed that the industries that came and went over time were linked, as one provided the skills and/or materials for the next, which in turn inspired my idea for the cover. The paper is blue because Coventry was known for a blue dye that didn’t fade, although no-one knows what shade it actually was.
.
Thanks to Matthew Leach aka @fireaterletterpress for his creative input to help realise my idea. Thanks also to Coventry Archives for parting with this duplicate copy! @the_herbert_cov Thanks also to the @freelandsfoundation for the grant to give me the opportunity to make new work by @printandlanguage

This print was inspired by the Japanese celebration of #Sakura, or cherry blossoms. I loved the fact that Saku means not only to bloom, but also to smile. There is a whole culture around the blossoms, which are appreciated for their beauty and fleeting appearance. by @printandlanguage

Really thrilled to be here today, attending the St Bride #Letterpress Summer School As someone who is mainly self taught, I’m looking forward to seeing how it should be done and hopefully significantly improve my technique. Thanks to a @freelandsfoundation grant taken in St Bride Foundation by @printandlanguage

How it starts - an idea, an image, and some text. After much wrangling with #letterpress type, there is an image in text. And framed, hung with other work to give an idea of scale. by @printandlanguage

These images show I develop my ideas. I always start with an image, which is often a photograph that has special meaning to me. This one shows me and my sister sitting the wall of the house were we grew up. I then create and set the text in letterpress, and the final image shows the greeting card. by @printandlanguage
