Our next printmakers!

@khloebakerillu + @hettieillustration are two Leeds based illustrators. Khloe is a freelance illustrator who uses watercolour, collage, pencil and pen. She draws in a naïve and intuitive way, creating illustrations of people, places and food. Hettie is an illustrator with a particular interest in plants and nature. Through collage and a love of textured drawings, she hopes to encourage others to get out and explore the world around them.

@llamapractice12345 is a printmaker and illustrator whose work is inspired by small moments her encounters in everyday life and the imagination that grows from them. These pieces are like a visual diary of her experiences. She often finds inspiration in interactions with people, nature and the subtle humour she notices around her.

@illustrariana is an illustration student based on Newcastle. She currently works with linoleum and risograph printing a lot as she finds this mediums very captivating and beautiful. Ari loves the way the ink sits on the paper and the smell of the prints after they’re finished.

@printandlanguage uses the heritage craft of letterpress to create images out of words, and produces unique limited edition prints and cards. Her work explores the ways we construct meaning through language. As a neurodiverse artist, Bashir responds to the technical rigour, precise nature and physical constraints of letterpress, and enjoys working within its limitations to develop its creative potential.

These reflective, playful works by Mianam Bashir @printandlanguage can be found on Angel Hill, in the Abbey Gardens and Sensory Garden.

In recent years Bashir has started to explore the meaning of language and importance of context using letter press, informed by her childhood experiences of conversations between family members in English, German and Urdu.
