ā›³ļø We’re not claiming to be @wyndhamclark or @nellykorda But we do know a thing or two about getting fresh air.

@topgolf has become a bit of a go-to at Priority Designs—and for good reason. Great people, great food, beautiful weather, and just enough friendly competition to keep things interesting. (Special shoutout to the self-injected chocolate donuts that Anne Marie and Steph wholeheartedly embraced šŸ©.)

We’re in the thick of busy season, but we find the best work doesn’t come from burnout. It comes from stepping away and getting a few good swings in firstšŸŒļøšŸŒļøā€ā™€ļø

Why are we using two products to do one job?ā€

Sometimes the best innovations come from really simple questions.

When our team set out to develop our own kitchen product, we noticed a redundancy hiding in plain sight: measuring cups and digital scales. Both measure ingredients. Yet, consumers needed both.

Cue the SmartMeasureā„¢: a patented product that combines a digital scale and measuring cup into a single intuitive tool, instantly converting weight into volume and simplifying the cooking experience.

What started as a small insight became:
āœ”ļø A utility patent
āœ”ļø An IDEA Finalist recognition
āœ”ļø Distribution through major retailers including Target, Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Walmart, Amazon, and more. taken in Priority Designs by @prioritydesigns

šŸ’” What do 36 years of industrial design experience teach you? That great products aren’t just created with the push of a button.

They’re built through countless sketches, prototypes, refinements, and plenty of collaboration. They’re shaped by teams that understand not just how something should look, but how it should work, be built, and ultimately improve people’s lives.

Paul Kolada defined this mindset when Priority Designs started in 1990, and it has been our North Star for 36 years (and counting). And in those decades, we’ve helped clients:

šŸš€ Bring innovative consumer products into millions of homes
āš•ļø Develop medical devices that enhance safety and patient outcomes
šŸ‘Ÿ Create performance gear trusted by elite athletes
šŸ”Ø Design industrial equipment built to perform in demanding environments

What continues to drive us today is the same fuel that drove us in 1990: solving complex challenges through thoughtful, human-centered design.
Because great design doesn’t just happen in an instant.

When we decided put our office roots down in Whitehall, OH, we didn’t want to just buy a piece of real estate, we wanted to truly settle in and give back to the community that’s welcomed us in with open arms.Ā Just last month, our team spent the day volunteering for Whitehall Parks Community Service Day, helping clean up and care for the city we’re proud to call home.

Big shout out to our CFO @toddmhenson who’s constantly advocating for Whitehall, and to all the other PDers who showed up to take care of our home.

There’s something pretty great about watching people tackle the tough jobs, get a little dirty, and still spend the whole day laughing together. Thanks for pitching in Owen Meyers, @rlbailey14 @toddmhenson and @rupaloop17 .

In honor of the Memorial Tournament kicking off in Columbus this weekend, we’re bringing the @taylormadegolf MOAD project out of the vault. TaylorMade gave us free reign to break the rules and deliver a vision for the future of golf. And we delivered. taken in Priority Designs by @prioritydesigns

34 years! That’s how long we’ve been lucky enough to have Michael Painter’s leadership and heart at Priority Designs. There’s so much we could say about Michael and the impact he’s had over the last three decades—though he’s so humble, if you complimented him directly, he’d probably change the subject pretty quickly.
Ā
Around here, we call him the ā€œclient whispererā€. He has an incredible ability to anticipate what clients need at every stage of the process. But even outside of clients, he approaches every relationship with the same level of care. We often find him mentoring younger team members with patience and generosity, while still being open-minded enough to say he’s learning, too. He’s a proud student of life, always looking to evolve, adapt, and bring creativity and passion into every project he touches, even 34 years later.

Michael, we’re incredibly lucky to have you. Thanks for choosing to call PD home. by @prioritydesigns

DXV’s Trope and Vibrato faucets were intentionally designed to be a mystery. How DOES the water get to the end of the spout? Helping create the world’s first commercially available residential faucets (manufactured using 3D metal printing) was an inspiring challenge. Surgeons often rely on audio cues to make critical decisions without taking their eyes off the patient. But with so many surgical devices with competing tones, clarity can get lost in the noise.

@smithnephewmeded #recognized this challenge and knew their new family of orthopedic devices needed a usable and cohesive voice from the start, so we partnered with them to re-architect the sonic experience. To ensure we got it right, we embedded ourselves in the surgical environment to observe live procedures, interact with devices firsthand, and interview clinical staff to define the perfect balance of usability and experience.

The Challenge
Sound must be instantly intuitive in high-stakes, noisy environments

Our Solution
A unified sonic experience built from the ground up, maximizing usability while creating a modern, consistent sonic brand.

The Outcome
The new sounds allowed Smith+Nephew to ensure all product touchpoints (industrial design, UX, and sound) demonstrated a comprehensive user experience that considered the entire user ecosystem taken in Priority Designs by @prioritydesigns

When @battchallengeosu asked us to help with their innovative @battchallengeua Battery project, we jumped at the chance to make it happen. We immediately reviewed our deadline and knew we had to be fast and efficient. Printing 440 parts at a .5 mm tolerance (and ensuring they’d be ready for assembly on time) became our personal mission. The result? BattChallenge OSU was the only team out of 13 to get their battery to communicate to the vehicle, taking home the top prize. A well-deserved award for one of the hardest working teams we know.

This took less than 9 months.

When DLS’s Advanced Development Department (pseudonym) sought to fast-track a groundbreaking technology that would transform blood analysis, they tapped us in for the job. We collaborated with their internal team to design, engineer, and prototype a sleek, research-use-only blood analyzer that automates workflows, processes more samples in less time, and delivers richer data—no manual slides required. Translation: this product could identify changes to individual blood cells, providing earlier diagnosis of diseases.

An improvement like this, and its potential impact, couldn’t wait. From user research to intuitive UX/UI design to rapid prototyping, we were proud to partner on a mission that’s changing the future of diagnostics.

Gardening season is back, and we never get our hands dirty without grabbing our @coronatools first. Not only does their legacy stretch all the way back to the 1920s, they’re still leading the pack in innovation to this day, and it’s been a privilege to help them in their pursuit. Fantastic client, fun project, and now, we’ve got great gardens to show for it. taken in Priority Designs by @prioritydesigns

With construction season just on the horizon, we’ve been thinking a lot of about the day-in, day-out workers who put their hands hard at work every day. Hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) is a serious condition caused by prolonged use of vibrating tools, often leaving workers with permanent damage. Traditional anti-vibration gloves protect but at the cost of dexterity and tactile feel—critical for getting the job done.
Ā
We saw an opportunity to change that. By leveraging generative lattice design and algorithmic modeling, we’ve developed a conceptual glove that combines advanced vibration mitigation with unmatched dexterity and grip strength. Inspired by impact-absorbing technology like the Adidas 4DFWD running shoe, our innovative lattice structures disperse vibrations without the bulk.
Ā
The result? A thinner, smarter glove designed to protect hands while empowering workers to perform at their best. taken in Priority Designs by @prioritydesigns
