One of our last day in the Algarve coast of Portugal, we went to the Benagil caves.

Meet the person leading Workshop Three. 🎤

Priscille Bukasa is a Calgary-based spoken word artist, writer, and teaching artist with over 15 years of performance experience and current Festival Coordinator for Arts ReimaginED. She’s performed at major Calgary festivals and conferences, and in 2025 co-wrote and narrated a Honens-commissioned production at the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

Which is the whole reason this workshop exists in the form it does. Spoken word lives exactly where those practices meet — knowing how to write from lived experience, and knowing how to put breath, rhythm, and body behind it so a room actually feels it.

Friday the 28th she’s leading the Poetry Workshop on the craft of spoken word: writing exercises, conversation, performance, and play, uncovering the stories hidden in ordinary moments.
Come as you are — no experience needed, and nothing to bring but your voice.

🗓️ Friday, August 28 · [2-4PM]
📍 738b 17th Ave SW
Free · RSVP in bio

Calgary on Purpose evenings of connection and conversation returns on June 17. From 7:00-8:30 PM at Contemporary Calgary for an evening of stories, laughter, music, and reflection.
In a time that can often feel rushed, divided, or overwhelming, Calgary on Purpose offers an opportunity to gather in community, celebrate the remarkable people around us, and imagine together what a more connected city can look like.
Hosted by Dave Kelly, this month’s gathering explores the theme “Men in Our Lives” and features guests Tyler Pearson, Jason and Sheldon Valleau (The Polyjesters), and a spoken word performance by Priscille Bukasa.

✨Free to attend. Spots are limited. Registration link in our eventbrite in our bio taken in Contemporary Calgary by @priscillebuck
