🍻Brewers: 90’s Parallels • Superfractors •Team Sets
@2008_brewers_collection

$A big card for my Braun and Brewers collections. I mainly want to thank @wildgoosechase_cards for selling this to me. I’ve been begging him since the day he originally posted it. I either needed to get this card someday or stop collecting Braun. I knew the latter wasn’t an option so I continued to beg and beg until it happened. Sometimes being annoying might be the best option when trying to acquire a grail. As far as the card, this thing checks so many boxes that it may be the most important card in my collection in regards to how important it is to what I collect. It’s easily Braun’s best card. As I’ve explained in a past Precious Metal Gems episode, 2005 was still considered Braun’s officiall rookie card year (as it should be) since it was before 2006 when MLB and the card companies agreed to make RC logos to signify rookie cards only after the player debuted in the MLB. This was only in an attempt to make more money by selling more product and capitalize on both the player’s first card AND their MLB debut. Braun has two Bowman Chrome 1/1’s, a Superfractor and a Red in 2005. Therefore, this one stands above the rest being the sole 1/1 from the the Topps Chrome set. It’s also the first year of the Superfractor parallel and the first offering of the Superfractor in Topps Chrome. It’s the Updates and Highlights set, but still a branch of the parent Topps Chrome set. This was the first time this set had its own separate release and the only time it was issued in pack form and not bundled with another product. The most significant fact about this card is that it may be the best Brewers card ever created. Braun is arguably the second best Brewers player of all time as he is 1-2 in most offensive categories and third in WAR. Some may make the argument that Molitor was better, but he never won an MVP or had the accolades and clutch performances Braun did. Either way, as far as cards go, Yount’s card catelog is limited due to the era he played. Molitor’s significant cards came when he wasn’t a Twin and late in his career. This being a significant 1/1 of Braun and a RC propels it higher than any other card of a Brewers player to date. by @prison_mike_pc$

$2008 Topps Chrome Superfractor 1/1 Prince. He’s got a huge dip in and ready to rip a shot over the short porch in right. One of the greatest ball players I was privileged to watch and unfortunately he’ll never get the credit he deserved. Brewers legend regardless. by @prison_mike_pc$

$2024 Topps Chrome Superfractor 1/1 Contreras. Back to back silver sluggers and an All-MLB nomination. Contreras had a great 2024 season and is easily one of the best catchers in baseball. He’s most likely already the best catcher in Brewers history which isn’t saying much since it hasn’t been a real strong spot for the organization. This is his first Brewers Topps Chrome and a really nice design overall. by @prison_mike_pc$

1998 Thunder Super Rave /25. A grading return that puts me at 6 of the 9 for the team set. It has been slow process finding Brewers from this set then also being able to win some of them at auction for a reasonable price over the years. by @prison_mike_pc

1998 Thunder Super Rave /25 Burnitz. Just back from grading. Number 5 of 9 Brewers in the set. by @prison_mike_pc

$2019 Heritage Superfractor 1/1. In 2019 the Superfractors were Walmart exclusives found in Megabox Chrome bonus packs. These came out to 1:551 pack odds for that product. The Woodruff, Peralta, Braun and some other players were only found in the Walmart release where others were in hobby. This is the first Heritage Superfractor for Woodruff. @ing_select was able to locate this for me at the Dallas show and I couldn’t be more thankful! by @prison_mike_pc$

1999 Fleer Brilliants 24kt /24. Last one to complete the 2 card Brewers team set. I love this set in all sports, but I think it carries a little more weight in baseball for the simple fact that there are less PMG’s and Rubies. The way I look at it, this seems to make each rare parallel a little more important with less options to pivot to. by @prison_mike_pc

$2021 Topps Update Chrome Superfractor 1/1 Adames. 13.9 WAR, 113 OPS+ and 107 HR’s in 3.5 years as a Brewer. Adames was a plus defender who was regularly in the top 5 in the MLB as a SS. A clubhouse leader who helped carry the Brewers to multiple playoff runs during his short stay with the team. He may not go down as an all time great Brewer since his time with the team was minimal, but his impact during those seasons was great. He was a perennial 20+ HR power bat at a key position. Adames continued this performance in SF this year and will always be loved by the Milwaukee faithful. Specifically for challenging Jesse Winker to a fight in the parking lot during the 2024 Wild Card series. This 2021 Update Chrome is his first Brewers card in the Topps Chrome brand and a great reminder of the midseason trade with the Rays that turned significantly in the Brewers favor. by @prison_mike_pc$

$2025 Finest Superfractor 1/1. Peralta’s first appearance in Finest. It’s fitting that it’s during his best season, but considering how good he has been over the years it’s somewhat shocking. I don’t know what Topps is going for with this design, but at least there is sufficient display of the Superfractor effect. I don’t think any other parallel on this card could@make it look good. Topps has done well from a deaign element over the last few years. Especially in the 2024 TC set which is one of my favorite Topps designs of all time. Finest, however, has really been ugly for awhile now. by @prison_mike_pc$

2011 Finest Mosaic /10 and 2012-2014 Finest Atomic /5. Braun’s 2011-2014 Finest run has some of the best parallels that featured great rarity in the Mosaic and Atomic. I would’ve liked to see these parallels continued further. by @prison_mike_pc

$2016 Topps Chrome Superfractor 1/1 Jeremy Jeffress. 7 total years out of the Brewers bullpen over three seperate runs. Jeffress was most notably an All-Star during the 2018 season with a 3.3 WAR and a big reason why the Brewers made it to game 7 of the NLCS. His regular season that year was far better than the playoffs. He had was 8-1 with a 1.29 ERA and had 15 saves. When the playoffs hit he lost his composure and blew a key game 2 in the NLCS that should’ve been a win to propel the Brewers to a 2-0 lead over the Dodgers. Regardless, He was a major part of the 2018 run and one of the most electric relievers the Brewers have had. by @prison_mike_pc$

$2015 Finest Superfractor 1/1 Lucroy. Often considered the consensus best Catcher in Brewers history with a 17.5 WAR (35.3 fWAR). Lucroy was 4th in MVP voting in 2014 and a doubles machine throughout his career. The argument could be made that Contreras will pass him eventually in most categories as a catcher, however, Lucroy was a consistent force for some really good Brewers offenses. This is his only Finest card and one of a handful of Brewers cards overall. by @prison_mike_pc$
