figured it’s time to post an update of my main bike.

since I put this one together early January, i was using risers and realized i wanted something much more relaxed. I picked up these beach cruiser bars for $5 at the swap meet and they’ve been lovely.

I also threw on this shorter basket that was supposed to be for my girlfriend’s bike. She surprised me with this @baggu bag which fits nicely in there. This was after i non-chalantly showed her an ad i saw and found the pattern interesting. Shout out to you, B❤️.

I designed this mount for my front light to position it below the rack. Having the light on the bars created a distracting shadow because of the basket.

and most recently, a new shiny Uno seat post. My last seatpost kept slipping over bumps. Thor himself torqued down those bolts with no success. It was unsightly anyways.

If you make it this far, I appreciate you. Cheers!

Its finally rideable!

This morning I finally got the thumb shifters on here. I took it out for a little shakedown (and to get coffee duh) and even though it’s way to small for me, I think it rides really well.

Notice the white cable housing–I had ran out of black cable housing and this was all I had left. I think it looks neat with these wheels and seat on here.

I didn’t go with a trigger shifter because of the cable pull ratio mystery and didn’t want to risk buying a component that wouldn’t work. These thumbless are super analogue and definitely makes you think about your gears before you actually need to drop/jump up a gear. That awareness is something I like.

Aside from the loaner wheel set and seat, and the missing front brake pads, this bike is good to go. In the end, I think I want to put some skin walls on here. Or might just go the safe route and get some maxxis hookworms.

Really loving these @schwalbetires Big Ben. 26x2.15. Swipe to see how bad the cracks were on the continentials I had on before. That was only after 4 months of use! They’ve got great grip and are a bit lighter. Can’t wait to ride them a bit more and get a better feel for them but so far they’ve been awesome.

Whipped up this R/C Bike Hybrid dude for a flyer for yesterdays ride hosted by @chinos.bikes @tim.nguyen714 @ericevanslol. This illustration was too cool to just live as a flyer so I made a few pins to hand out. Now i’m considering making a new pin every month, starting with the canti cult design next? We’ll see. It was my first time riding around costa mesa / newport area and the vibes were immaculate. Also got to try out a rock crawler for the first time. I get it now and have set up ebay alerts for red cat r/c’s. by @prjctgabe

Taking applications for my newly established cult. Yes, we’re inefficient. Yes, we’re outdated. Yes, there’s better options but for some God-forsaken reason, you can’t help but to fall into our weak grasp. sign ups are down below 👇🏽 by @prjctgabe

illustration of a gremlin fighting some serious headwind.

Last inktober really burnt me out. I haven’t created many illustrations since then, and working on bikes has taken up most of my time. Now that I’ve got my builds dialed in for the most part, it’s time to dust off the pens and ipad and get back into the groove of things. I’m not sure what i want to draw, but since bikes be at the top of mind, that’s what i’ll stick with for now.

Sick ride full of climbs and descents around palos verdes and redondo beach yesterday. First time trying dirt in over 10 years, not bad but need more time to really get some confidence in that terrain and i might need to tune my brakes. shoutout mudskipper & totaltrashcyclingclub for hosting this gathering and to all the awesome people I met 🤘🚲🤘 by @prjctgabe
