In the second-half of 2025, Problems Printing worked with artist Erick Medel (@erick.medel) to produce his first collaborative silkscreen print editions, 2 Amigos and 2 Flores (2026). Wanting to share the things that made this collaboration so special, we created a video to highlight important aspects of the project.

Our two-print series is currently on display in our booth at the Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair (@powerhouse_arts) April 9-12, 2026.

Problems Printing is excited to participate in the second annual Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair at Powerhouse Arts in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Zero Days Without Problems, illustrated and printed by our resident Printmaker Nick Perry (@nick3am), chronicles the mishaps, accidents, crashes, and disasters that occurred during the first two years of Problems Printing.

The print is part comic relief, part ode to the chaos of starting a new studio in a new place. The problems never stopped—so we allowed them to be a part of the story.

Nick Perry (b. 1982, Athens, OH) lives in Los Angeles. Perry grew up in the tight-knit community of Athens, Ohio and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Printmaking at Ohio University, where he learned the value of versatility and collaboration. Nick maintains an illustration practice that showcases his brilliant capacity for observation and he can sometimes be found skating the curbs at his local Costco parking lot.

📺 Watch Part 3: Making a Print with Erick Medel

Printmaker Nick Perry offers a glimpse into the way colors were mixed for 2 Amigos. Informed by the colors in Medel’s thread paintings, Perry studied the threads in relation to their typical denim substrate in order to reflect a similar color relationship between ink and paper.

Please join us this Saturday, February 28 for the release of 2 Amigos, by Erick Medel during our Print Release + Open Studio from 12–5 pm.

The artist and printmakers will be present and are looking forward to sharing more about the project with everyone.

📺 Watch Part 2: Drawing Cats with Erick Medel, on our YouTube channel.

For our recent print collaboration with Erick Medel, a custom-built drawing machine was created by artist, engineer, and fabricator J.D. Fontanella. The drawing machine produces zig-zag marks akin to the stitch pattern used in Medel’s sewn works. As an entirely novel process to us all, drawing the films for this print was a point of true collaboration.
