Where does CAR-T actually work today? 🩸

Every approved CAR-T product treats a blood cancer: B-ALL, large B-cell, follicular and mantle cell lymphoma, CLL, and multiple myeloma. And it is moving from last resort to earlier lines of therapy.

The frontier? Lupus and other autoimmune diseases, and the solid-tumour wall. Both are still investigational, and both are exciting.

⭕️ طور باحثون من جامعة “ميشيغان ستيت” الأميركية علاجًا جينيًا تجريبيًا يستهدف تلف الشبكية المرتبط بخلل في جين “CaBP4”، وأظهرت التجارب تحسنًا في الرؤية وإصلاحًا لبعض الأضرار العصبية.

⭕️ ويعتمد العلاج على حقن العين بفيروس معدل وغير ضار يحمل نسخة سليمة من الجين، ما ساعد على تحسين الرؤية في الإضاءة الخافتة، وتعزيز نمو الوصلات العصبية الضرورية لنقل الإشارات البصرية.

⭕️ وأظهرت النتائج استمرار الفوائد العلاجية خلال متابعة امتدت إلى 3 سنوات، مع مؤشرات على ترميم أجزاء من الشبكية تضررت نتيجة الخلل الجيني.

⭕️ واقتصر الاختبار حتى الآن على الكلاب المصابة باضطراب وراثي نادر، ما يعني أن فعالية العلاج وسلامته لدى البشر لا تزالان بحاجة إلى دراسات إضافية قبل اعتماده للاستخدام الطبي. by @prof.khaledothman
