Back where we started!

Progress Coffee opened in 2004 as a small warehouse café on the east side long before the skyline changed, but right when the community needed a place to gather. Artists, musicians, neighbors, dreamers. That’s always been us.

We took some time away, but we’re here now. Let’s pick up where we left off. ☕️

Sadly, our time here is done after 15 years. It's hard to put into words, but today will be the last day of Progress Cherrywood due to the expansion of IH35.
We started roasting here in 2009 and have 15 years of memories and events in the space. Unfortunately, we only had a year-and-a-half of our little community cafe. It is tough because we feel like we never really got the chance to get going in this space.
We are hunting for a landing spot so will update as we know more.
In the meantime, we will continue to roast here for a little while longer before we have to vacate the space.

@kutnathan did a great job sharing our story so give it a read or listen for more.

Meet our coffee connoisseur, James! ☕️

You can usually find him roasting up a fresh batch of beans in our on-site roastery for you to enjoy on the daily. A lot of intentional craftsmanship and time goes into every cup here at @progresscoffee 💚 Our refurbished @sanfranroaster is a direct-flame coffee roaster that really allows us to control the quality and roast — the beans come out perfect every time!

We bag our beans for you to enjoy at home and also have a rotating “Coffee of the Month” available for purchase at the link in our bio or in-person! 🙌

Stay caffeinated, friends.

Save this post to try at home! 🏠

All you need:
☕ 80–90g of our coarse-ground coffee
💧 About 4 cups of cool, filtered water
🧦 A brew sock
🫙 A jar (we love ours from White Mountain!)

Steep overnight, let it drip in the morning, top it off with water, and boom: smooth cold brew all week long.

Big shoutout to our Austin neighbors at @wm.yogurt 🤍 We give their yogurt jars a second life brewing cold brew at the shop and at home. Good yogurt, good coffee, less waste. We love to see it.

💡 Already had your morning cup? Make a batch with our decaf for an easy afternoon sip, minus the extra caffeine.

Grab a bag in the shop and let us know how your first batch turns out! 👇

The espresso mistakes nobody talks about ☕

Everyone tells you to buy good beans and dial in your grinder.

Fewer people mention the stuff that actually trips you up at home, cold group heads, uneven pucks, and tap water working against you.
Swipe through for the small fixes that make the biggest difference. 👉
