POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This journey's just beginning 🌿🔥💧🚇

Ever wished pokémon were real? Stay tuned for more as Project 151 explores what the everyday lives of all 151 original Kanto pokémon could be like.. by observing them through the natural sciences. 🌾

This fan art project will see EVERY original species recreated as a to-scale, poseable pipe cleaner figure, features living in what could be their natural habitats around NYC. We want to inform & excite about urban ecology, conservation, and the processes of science- with the help of the organizations that steward our spaces around NYC.

Research is just beginning! Catch us on here or out in the field at our next event 💫 Check out the link in bio for all info on the project + how to get involved! 👀

Ten years of #PokemonGO, and thirty years of #Pokemon- it all began with a choice. 🟢🔴🔵
The journey of #Project151 started with Voltorb, which was soon joined by the original three first partners... so long ago that they were due for an upgrade. 👀

These pokémon are iconic, and it was important to get them right- now they're perfect for explaining the ways we interact with the natural world. Treasured species like these might even be considered domesticated, living alongside humans as popular companions. 💗

Whether battling, exploring or taking it easy at home, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are icons for a reason. 🌱🔥💧
We'll be exploring their natural habitats soon enough- stay tuned!

Who would you choose?

⚠️Stay safe out there! What's good for one species might not be for another 😶‍🌫️

To most living creatures, the smoky haze from the northern wildfires that currently blankets our city is stifling or dangerous. However, for a select few, conditions like these can be helpful and even comfortable. We call the species that thrive where few else can "extremophiles." 🔥

While we wear masks and filter our air to protect our mouths and lungs, Koffing have been drawn out in droves. We know they expel gases noxious to humans, and their volcanic and toxic habitats suggest they thrive best in polluted air: thick with airborne, particulate matter. When we breathe in, these comparatively large particles can easily make it into our bloodstream, where they can become dangerous- while Koffing may use abundant aerosols as a source of energy. What works for them certainly doesn't work for us, and vice versa. 💨

It's important to understand that there's no one "healthy habitat" for all life. That when climate and environment begin to change, we might expect our familiar habitat to have new visitors & to feel less comfortable. All systems are connected, and protecting your body's system-- especially from unhealthy air-- is necessary to continue your adventure. Please mask up and reduce outdoor exercise until the Koffing settle somewhere else 🙏 😷

Pokémon Day with @ebay & @thepokecourt!!

Stop by The Standard Biergarten today before 8pm for a look at @project0151 and a scavenger hunt featuring my life-size pipe cleaner pokémon 👀👀

I'm honored to be exhibiting Project 151 for the first time as an interactable diorama exhibit. This is an INCREDIBLE event uniting the pokémon community in the spirit of collecting. HUGE thanks to The Trainer Court & eBay live teams, both have put a ton of work into making this Pokémon Day a one to remember.💫

VOLTORB #Pokemon

📍Many of you know this, but I've been working on a massive undertaking crafting the original 151 pokémon, to-scale with one another out of pipe cleaners.

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the start of this project. Initially just meant to hone my pipe cleaner crafting skills, what's come to be known as #Project151 has become an effort to make the world of Pokémon feel real while inspiring interest in our own natural world. 🚇🌾

I, and many of my pokémon-enjoying friends, are lucky enough to live in NYC: the greatest city in the world, and a lot more biodiverse than it gets credit for. There might be no better place on the planet to observe the delicate balance of human influence and natural systems- which just so happens to be the theme of the original Pokémon games.💫

It all started 12 years ago with Voltorb: January 18th, 2014. This photoshoot of the original Voltorb from then, alongside its updated version, is from 2023: small updates, fixes, or entirely new figures have been made to prep for the true scope of this endeavor.

There are 150 (or more) to see, and I'm excited to finally share them all with you. This project's evolved nonstop and I think it's become what it was meant to be, just in time for Pokémon's 30th anniversary. Stay tuned, follow @project0151, and stay curious.

The world of dreams and adventure you've hoped for is already out there.
