What if the next generation could show us the Nigeria they want to build? 🌱🇳🇬

We are inviting schools across Nigeria to participate in the Climate Story Challenge, an opportunity for schools to give their students a platform to think creatively about climate, sustainability, and the future of their communities.

Schools can select a student to participate and submit either a short or illustrated story exploring the theme: “What Does a Green Nigeria Look Like?”

🏆 1st Place — ₦1,000,000
🥈 2nd Place — ₦500,000
🥉 3rd Place — ₦250,000

3 schools will emerge as winners.😃

Beyond the prizes, the challenge is about giving young people a voice in conversations about the future of their country and reminding them that their ideas belong in those conversations.

📩 To participate, send your entry to hello@project17.ng. Use the subject: Climate Story Challenge.

Only students aged 9-17 are eligible to participate in the challenge.

Please note that submitted entries may be featured or shared on Project 17’s social media platforms, website, and other digital communication channels.

Deadline: September 25th.

Schools, are you ready to let your students show us the Nigeria they imagine?
We can’t wait to see what they create!😊

Being young doesn’t mean you have nothing valuable to say. 🧡

Your ideas deserve to be heard. Your questions matter. And your age shouldn’t stop you from speaking up, trying something new, or sharing what’s on your mind.

Here’s your reminder to keep showing up and keep sharing.

A Note to the Next Generation — 01.

The difference between a bystander and a changemaker is often just perspective.

We see the potential in every child. The ideas in every young mind. The little actions that can lead to something bigger.

And it’s exactly why we show up. 😊

The children growing up today will experience the future we are shaping now.

So climate education cannot wait.

When children understand what is happening around them, they can ask better questions, make informed choices and see that they have a role to play in shaping the future.

Because we’re not just preparing children for the world they will inherit. We’re helping them understand that they can help shape it. ❤️

Stories from the Soil was more than a conversation. 🌱

It was a space to listen, learn from different perspectives, share experiences and see what can happen when we make room for African voices in the climate conversation.

Here’s a look at the experience from one of the facilitators Dr Deborah Gallagher🧡

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA! 🇳🇬

Today, we celebrate Nigeria and the people who continue to imagine what this country can become.

A greener Nigeria.
A more educated Nigeria.
A Nigeria where young people have the opportunity to dream, create and shape the future.

The Nigeria we want starts with what we choose to build today.

Happy Independence Day!

Our Co-facilitator Jennifer Uchendu shared this at Stories from the Soil. 🌱

It was one of those conversations that made us pause, think, and look at climate conversations a little differently.

Because sometimes, giving people space to express what they’re feeling is where a different kind of conversation begins. 🧡

A moment from the room.🥰

STORIES FROM THE SOIL 🌱

And just like that, we went from “we’re getting ready” to a room full of stories, conversations, laughter and new connections. 🥹

Stories from the Soil brought African voices, lived experiences and climate stories together during Climate Week NYC, and honestly, what a time it was!

We shared ideas, listened, connected and even got a first look at our upcoming children’s book, which will be launching soon. 😊

A big thank you to everyone who registered, showed up and made the day what it was, this was a reminder that how we tell Africa’s climate story matters.

Here’s a little look back at the moments.🥰

THE CLOCK IS TICKING ⏰🌱🇳🇬

September 25 is almost here.

If your school has young storytellers with ideas about the Nigeria they want to see, this is their chance to share them.

Write it. Draw it. Tell us what a Green Nigeria looks like to you.

JUST ONE DAY TO GO. 😊

We’ve been talking about the stories.
We’ve been introducing the voices.
Now, it’s almost time to bring everyone into the room.

Stories from the Soil happens tomorrow in New York.

A space for African perspectives, lived experiences, and the stories shaping how we understand climate.

The wait is almost over. 😃
