Every girl deserves a childhood, not a marriage.

A childhood where she can learn, dream, ask questions, make mistakes, and discover her potential without fear or limitations.

At Project 29 Foundation, we believe that every girl deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to build a future of her own choosing.

This International Day of the Girl Child, we are adding our voice to the call to end child marriage and invest in girls’ rights.

Because her future should be shaped by her dreams, not by decisions made for her.

In September, we received approval to implement our free After-School Maths Club in a second public secondary school in Niger State.

Over the past two years, we have learnt that access to quality learning goes beyond being in a classroom. Students also need the right support, resources and opportunities to learn.

So for us, this is more than an expansion.

It means taking what we have learnt into another school, reaching more students and creating another space where young people can learn, build confidence and grow.

It’s almost the International Day of the Girl Child.

I shared this last year, and a year later, I believe the message is still just as valid.

Because some conversations shouldn’t end when the commemorative day is over.

As we approach October 11 again, I’m bringing this back.

We talk a lot about Project 29 Foundation, but this is what some days at our After-School Maths Club actually look like.

Students answering questions, playing Maths games in groups, attempting quizzes, and getting little rewards for participating and winning.

And, of course, we have a bit of fun in between. 😂

Because learning Maths should not only be about getting the answers right.

Our After-School Maths Club creates additional learning time for students at no cost, giving them more opportunities to practise, participate and build confidence in Maths.

What happens when a student begins to believe they can actually do maths?

Anayo tells that story better than we can.

He talks about a time when maths was something he didn’t know, to now being able to tutor others.

But one part of his story stood out to us: he went back to his friend and told them about the After-School Maths Club because he wanted them to join too.

That matters.

Because learning should not stop with one student.

At Project 29 Foundation, we are building an After-School Maths Club where students can learn, grow in confidence and, hopefully, take that learning beyond the classroom.

Two years into building Project 29 Foundation, I have learnt that wanting to do good work and being able to sustain it are two different things.

There were moments I genuinely did not know how we would keep going. But people showed up, donated, gave their time, and when plans failed, we tried again.

Two years later:
📚 100+ students reached
📈 Confidence scores moving from 30% to 70%
🎓 WAEC fees supported for students

Now, I’m learning to do something I’m still not comfortable with: ask for help.

We want to keep our after-school Maths Club free and open the door to more students.
