Throughout my journey with endometriosis I have lived through pain and a lot of bad days that many people don’t see. Somedays it feels like a battle to just get out of bed but then I remember that I have the ability to remind others that they can persevere through it all. Girl Scout Central, here I come!!!!

After many meetings and hours of planning I’m so excited to partner with Girl Scouts to launch my class, “Body Smart, Confidence Strong!” Bringing education and awareness to menstruation while also teaching the importance of working to end period poverty is the backbone of my mission. As a future educator, endometriosis warrior, and period poverty advocate this is like a dream come true💚

The double standard is hard to ignore. We expect people to manage their periods, but access to period products isn’t guaranteed. With almost 1 in 4 U.S. teens experiencing period poverty, it’s time to recognize pads and tampons for what they are, basic necessities, not luxuries. That’s why the mission of Project Essential to break the stigma and end period poverty is so important to me❤️

“I saw this and it made me think of you”

Many times I have gotten this text with a picture of free menstrual products and every time makes my heart so happy. This simple text is a reminder that my mission is possible and it’s happening. No one should ever have to question if they will be able to access these essential goods and I will not stop until that goal is met💕

I’m not crying you are….

Today was a big reminder for me that Project Essential isn’t just a platform, it’s a part of my story. If you told 11 year old Finley she would be in front of people talking about how normal it is for your body to be changing she would’ve called you crazy. It’s been a long journey that I can’t wait to continue and I’m forever grateful for the impact I am able to make.

In honor of March being Endometriosis Awareness Month I am proud to be sharing my story. For many years I dealt with chronic pain and it wasn’t something teenage girls were talking about. After many tests and doctor appointments, I finally had a doctor who wanted to take the next step towards a diagnosis. In November 2024 I underwent surgery where I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometriosis and was told by my doctor it was the worst case he had seen at my age.

My journey with Endometriosis has inspired me to continue to give back menstrual and hygiene products to my community. Through my nonprofit Project Essential, I have been able to educate about the importance of feminine health across Central Pennsylvania and break down stereotypes facing so many girls and women. Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and share your journey💛
