What if our local plants had a story to tell?

What can happen when we slow down enough to listen?

Join us in our upcoming workshop with @msmerritt_pod on Writing (With) Plants 🌱

A creative workshop bringing together forest bathing, plant knowledge, writing, and storytelling.

This gathering will center around Mugwort, our guest plant, as we explore its folklore, history, science, and relationship with people.

We’ll spend the afternoon at the peaceful Clearwater Nature Center, moving between the forest and the campfire. Through a grounding forest bathing walk, guided writing prompts, and a storytelling circle, we’ll explore how plants can become teachers, storytellers, and a way of connecting more deeply with the places we call home.

The experience will also include making tea and smudge sticks while learning about the plant we are spending time with.

Sunday, September 27
4–7 PM
Rick Creek Park DC

Bring a notebook and pen, weather-appropriate clothing, drinking water, and an open mind.

This is an invitation to step away from the pace of everyday life, spend time outdoors, and consider a different question:

What stories have the plants around us been telling all along?

Reserve your spot through the link in our bio.

The #baobab grows in the USVI St Croix (not native to the West Indies).

The seed of this tree has traveled across the Atlantic from the continent Africa. This tree has grown for hundreds of years in #stcroix and possibly other islands in the #antilles

Our organization is registered in the USVI and Washington DC. With intentions to expand internationally. We are unfolding exciting plans in the Virgin Islands! And South America. by @project_green_foot

January 31 2026 marks our official 3 year anniversary! Project Green Foot is moving at a steady pace in food sovereignty, education and now implementing seed conservation (our main objective).

We need a solid team of volunteers to grow with us! We are actively applying for grants, planning with local farmers for tours, planning our educational programs, preparing for our 2026 Harvest program, planning our eco-retreats and expanding to launch our programs in the US Virgin Islands.

To inquire on volunteer opportunities please visit our website and click join our team to learn more! Link in our bio 🌱

On Sunday, November 23rd, we gathered @oldcitymarket for Project Green Foot’s first-ever fundraiser dinner! A celebration of community, nourishment, and the power of collective action.

Thanks to your support, we raised $1,500 and contributed 900 pounds of fresh, local food to families in need in Washington, D.C. in collaboration with @freshfarmdc

Chef @fhernandes48 from Elizabeth’s on L Street generously showcased his talent, crafting a beautiful #vegan meal using #localproduce sourced directly from our partner farmers.

Guests dined together surrounded by seasonal greenery and tables set with wildflower seed menus printed on plantable, non-GMO wildflower paper from @botanicalpaperworks , a woman-owned business. Each guest left with seeds symbolic of our future: to grow nourishment, community, and organic genetic integrity.

This is only the beginning! taken in Old City Market And Oven by @project_green_foot
