⁉️ Who Are Ya!: San Francisco City FC (USL League 2 / SFSFL)
🌁 This week we get to know San Francisco City FC, a majority supporter-owned model of sustainability, who just finished off their best ever season in USL League 2 and are using the offseason to prepare for a foray into the US Open Cup.
▪️ There is no club in the United States, at any level, quite like San Francisco City FC. They might not be the only club which is majority supporter-owned. They are not the only club who adhere to a strict code of ethics and hold one another accountable. They are certainly not the only club who rock unique kits or sell fashionable swag to keep the lights on. They are not the only club in the US to start from scratch and work their way up to sustainability with an eye on a higher level of soccer in the future. But they may be the only club who has successfully combined all of these attributes and represents their community in a way that (nearly) every other club in The City is friendly, if not respectful, of what they have accomplished.

Current SF City FC President, Aaron Mansfield, consulted with current board members as well as past representatives of the club to make sure we got a good history lesson, an account of how it operates now, and what they hope to accomplish eventually. by @protagonistsoccer

🗽Gotham Hunting the NWSL Shield
▪️After a draw at home last weekend, Gotham FC can still earn their first NWSL Shield, but will miss out on breaking KC Current’s points total from last year. With three games left in the regular season, Gotham have to go on the road and hold off a surging San Diego.

▪️Photographer Mark Mincolelli found his way to Red Bull Arena on Friday, September 25th, to shoot Gotham hosting Chicago Stars and was treated to an exciting win for the league leaders. Jaedyn Shaw opened up the scoring early, with an assist from Sam Kerr, just 9 minutes into the match. Sam Kerr put Gotham FC ahead by 2 in the 50th minute - Reiten with the assist for that one.
Jaedyn Shaw got her brace in the 65th, putting the home side ahead 3-0. Ten minute later, both sides made a series of changes which saw Kerr off for the evening. But we also got to see Simone Charley come on for Taylor Wood and Tessa Dellarose come on for Julia Grosso. In the 87th, Dellarose pulled one back for Chicago and although it was too late for an attempted comeback, she gave the team a bright moment in a dim season.

▪️Check out Mark’s brilliant album of shots from the game. Follow him on Instagram and if you’re looking for work in the area, reach out to him on his website. by @protagonistsoccer

@opencup qualifying action between @ethosacademychicago and @chicagohouse_ac
•
Chicago House are through to the next round of qualifying for the Open Cup with a gritty display. Ethos came out swinging but House scored first. Ethos leveled it almost immediately and kept the pressure up into extra time, even with penalties looming. Red card shown to House, down to 10 men only for their backup keeper to score the winner minutes later. Couldn’t write a crazier script.
