I just finished Part 1 of a three-part deep dive on the USMNT’s last two weeks, and if you care about youth development, you’ll want to read this one.

Four games. Four wins. Thirteen debuts. A 17-year-old becoming the youngest scorer in program history, four days after another 17-year-old broke the same record.

Part 1 covers the window itself: Peru, Chile, Mexico, Canada, what happened in each game, and the bigger story underneath it, which is trust. Pochettino gave teenagers real minutes in real games, and they repaid him.

Part 2 goes player by player through the kids who broke through. Part 3 is the development lesson, what this window teaches every parent and youth coach.

Part 1 is live now, link in stories.

Chicago House are through to the next round of qualifying for the Open Cup with a gritty display. Ethos came out swinging but House scored first. Ethos leveled it almost immediately and kept the pressure up into extra time, even with penalties looming. Red card shown to House, down to 10 men only for their backup keeper to score the winner minutes later. Couldn’t write a crazier script.

🏆 A tribute to St. Louis soccer history.

For this year’s U.S. Open Cup, BOHFS will take the field in a special-edition kit created in collaboration with The Protagonist and Olive & York — paying tribute to one of the legendary clubs that helped shape the game in St. Louis.

Originally founded as St. Leo’s Club in 1903, the club won eight consecutive St. Louis league titles before joining the professional St. Louis Soccer League in 1915. From 1918–1922, the team competed as the St. Louis Screw Company, named after its sponsor.

Our throwback kit draws inspiration from that chapter of St. Louis soccer history, with the design inspired by “The Screw” characterization created by Tyler Littwin of Blake Inc, who also designed the badge.

More than 100 years later, we’re proud to carry a little piece of that history onto the field for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. 🇺🇸⚽️

Respect the past. Represent St. Louis. Write our own chapter.

Get yours today! (Link in bio)

Lorain County Leviathan FC is proud to announce the promotion of Amir Kettani to Associate Head Coach.

A former Cleveland State player and goalkeeper, Amir has played at the Division I level with Cleveland State, served as head coach at Lakeland Community College, and spent the past several seasons as an assistant at Oberlin College.

But if you’ve been watching what we’re building, you already know Amir’s fingerprints are all over the 2027 roster.

This offseason, Amir has spearheaded a worldwide search for talent, digging through contacts and conversations across the globe to find players who fit the Leviathan way. He’s helped secure top goal scorers from Australia and uncovered a collection of Caribbean players whose speed and pace could bring an entirely different dimension to Lorain County.

As Chairman Andrew McDonnell put it:

“I’ve got an area on my phone that is basically nothing but texts from Amir and players asking about Lorain County. He has been relentless. He’s deep-dived into every corner of the soccer world looking for players who want to be here, not just players looking for somewhere to play. That matters. We’re building something in Lorain County, and Amir has been one of the people driving that from day one.”

With Blake New as our Head Coach, and the promotion of Amir strengthens a coaching staff already committed to developing players and building something much bigger than a summer soccer team.

The 2027 Leviathan is taking shape.

And apparently, Amir has been collecting passports.

Big news for soccer in Northern Ohio. ⚽

The ownership group behind Akron City FC and Lorain County Leviathan FC has acquired the Northern Ohio Soccer League.

NOSL has grown into one of the stronger regional semi professional soccer leagues in the country, and our group is excited about the opportunity to help take it to the next level.

We are always looking for ways to positively impact the sport, create new pathways and invest in the communities we serve. With NOSL, we see an opportunity to build on an already strong foundation while bringing additional resources, experience and focus to the this part of the soccer space in our region.

Our goal is to continue creating opportunities for players, coaches, sports business professionals, aspiring team owners and communities throughout Northern Ohio — while strengthening the game at the grassroots level.

We’re excited about what’s ahead for NOSL and the future of adult soccer across the region.
