We are a grassroots alliance of disabled people and allies fighting to protect our NDIS.
Join our mailing list for updates on future actions.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Deadlines are coming up SOON to make your submission to tell the NDIA once again what is wrong with their proposals for change.

We are now in the new normal, where some significant changes are locked in because the NDIS Amendment Bill passed in August 2026 - but some changes haven’t been confirmed yet.

This comes at a time when we are all hurting and exhausted, but if we stay silent in these new consultations, the Rules that have yet to be decided will go unchallenged. So we must keep speaking up.

Take action now:
- Make a submission about these proposed Rules before the deadlines
- Connect with your community to share your experiences and mutual aid
- If you can get together in person, keep making noise
- Make harm visible through the Harm Tracker & PWDA Form (links on Linktree)
- Take this time to recover and regroup for the fight ahead

We have updated our Linktree (in our bio) with info about the changes and what happens now, as well as steps you can take to protect yourself. We have also linked Easy Read versions.

We are also organising a mutual aid project on our community Discord which you are welcome to join (on our Linktree).

Our disabled volunteer team nationally at Protect Our NDIS Alliance are taking whatever time we can to recover and regroup and to support each other as we work out what will happen to each of our own NDIS plans, and some of us continue with our appeals in the ART. So we need to share the load of our fight across the country, and we are calling on you! If you have energy to make a submission about these proposed Rules, please do!

It has been great to see actions around the country, and we need to keep this up. Change won’t happen just through making a submission - but it puts it on record and helps us all.

Find the links for the consultation papers and the NDIS Reforms Hub via our Linktree. We have also linked Easy Read versions.

We need all our voices on record as we continue to fight against changes to our NDIS.

Labor can choose in this moment to not cut the supports needed by a disabled family to live and to instead tax the gas exporters and the billionaires. Tag @australianlabor in the comments and tell them to SCRAP THE NDIS BILL.

There's still time to call your MP and tell them not to pass the NDIS Bill 🔗 greens.org.au/ndis-call by @protectourndis

WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING FOR?

We have until 14 August to force the government to scrap the NDIS Bill, and you can help. We need allies to join us on the street!

We have to scrap the Bill - there are no amendments that can make this Bill safe for participants and disabled people. The risk is far too high.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?

1. Make a plan to call Liberal, National and Independent Senators and MPs at least once a week to tell them to scrap the NDIS Bill! We have Calling Guides to help you in our Linktree (in our bio).

2. Send an email to Liberal Senators and MPs using @everyaustraliancounts email template (on our Linktree).

3. Speak to everyone in your communities: in your workplaces, in your social groups, to your treating professionals, and tell them how bad this Bill is.

4. JOIN US ON SATURDAY 1 AUGUST!

Let the government feel our community’s power. We have to stop the cuts. Don’t put a price on our lives.

Calling Canberra/Ngunnawal/Ngambri folks to a meeting to debrief our campaign against the NDIS cuts, to gather in solidarity and to talk about the next steps of our campaign.

Protect Our NDIS Canberra is a grassroots group of people with disabilities and supporters based in Canberra.

We have been fighting to stop the cuts to the NDIS, and campaigning for publicly funded disability supports available to everyone.

This meeting will be an opportunity for:

💜 A debrief on the campaign so far - and discussing what we've won (improved amendments to the bill, growing a grassroots community, increasing visibility)

💜Talking what strategies have worked and what hasn't worked

💜Checking in with each other about the impacts the new NDIS legislation has had on our access to support, and on our lives generally

💜Discussing the ACT context and coming policy changes such as foundational supports

💜Brainstorming strategies or directions we could take in the future (such as rallies or forums)

All are welcome - NDIS participants, people with disabilities, community and supporters.

If this is your first time coming to a campaign organising meeting, you are very welcome and we would love to have you!

We need to grow a huge movement to stop these cuts, and all perspectives are valuable.

Register to make sure you receive the zoom link - link in bio. A picture of Senator Jordon Steele John with advocates from the Protect Our NDIS Alliance Canberra standing inside Parliament House.
Tile text reads: Protect Our NDIS Alliance Canberra campaign organising meeting. A chance to gather, debrief our campaign and talk about what's next to fight the NDIS cuts.

Thanks to all the organisations who have endorsed the Speak-out against racism and bigotry so far! If you would like to endorse, scan the QR code in the image or click the link in our bio.

It’s important we get our on the street and challenge the racism and bigotry of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, that has been allowed to flourish by Labor and the Coalition’s anti-refugee policies, anti-trans laws and attacks on the NDIS.

Join the speak-out at Minogue Reserve in Glebe at 11am on Saturday, September 26 to hear from community campaigners, students and First Nations leaders before we march to the University of Sydney footbridge for an anti-racist banner drop.

The NDIS was built on the idea that disabled people should live good, safe lives, with individual plans for individual people, based on choice and control.

This bill puts that at risk.

Of COURSE we need to make changes to the NDIS, but let’s be real here: it’s a huge step back for disability rights and honestly, quite devastating to see how they really view us: as burdens—costs. Rather than human beings who deserve safe, good lives with necessary supports.

Ironic, given their messaging is all about “securing the NDIS”. Gross manipulation and misinformation.

President of People with Disability Australia Jarrod Sandell-Hay spoke with us on @lanewayctvnews a few weeks ago! I am late to posting, but still wanted to call this out.

Video description: Zoe has pale skin and long pink hair with dramatic makeup, a black short sleeve jumpsuit and an electric wheelchair. You can see her floral fairy tattoos on one arm. She sits at the Laneway news desk. It switches to footage of Jarrod speaking from zoom.

Despite widespread opposition and calls for the bill to be scrapped,
the NDIS amendment bill was passed.

Many parts of the bill are concerning, including a 50% cut to social and community participation (which is how people can go to work, school, get groceries, medication, go to medical appointments, get out into the community), having more than 241,000 people set to me cut off, and no way to challenge decisions.

It’s extremely concerning, so I invited President of People with Disability Australia Jarrod Sandell-Hay to discuss on last week’s episode of @LanewayCTVNews

Video description: Zoe has pale skin and long pink hair, wearing a black jumpsuit that shows off her fairy tattoos. She’s sitting in her electric wheelchair on the Laneway set, interviewing Jarrod, who has dark short brown hair and is also in an electric wheelchair.

After being locked out of the NDIS office at a snap action on the day before the NDIS Bill was passed, @protectourndisgadigal occupied Labor NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister's office for one hour and staged a die-in, representing the deaths that have and will continue to occur through these cuts. Shamefully, no senior staff were present to address the disability community's concerns.

Solidarity with these brave comrades and shame on Senator McAllister and all of the Labor Party for passing this reckless, eugenicist bill.

Check out coverage of this protest at Honi Soit @honi_soit: https://honisoit.com/2026/08/disability-community-stages-die-in-in-response-to-ndis-overhaul-as-bill-proceeds-in-senate/.

So last night, despite significant opposition from the disabled community and even the Australian Human Rights Commssion, the rushed and dangerous NDIS amendment bill was passed.

You might hear them talk about this like they’re doing a good thing, but look at what they are ACTUALLY doing and what all the actual experts are saying.

This bill will kill. There are so many problems with it.

I feel sick at the prospect of so many suffering already, and so many who will suffer—and the sad reality is: cuts mean disabled people lose their lives

SHAME.

Video description: Zoe has long pink hair, pale skin, and pink eyeshadow and black winged liner and red lipstick, with a black evanescence shirt on. The words on the screen say: this horrific ndis bull will cause mass suffering and harm, no your disabled friends on the NDIS are not okay.
