Why did Minister Mark Butler select an inaccessible heritage listed building as his portal to the Hindmarsh electorate and then ostensibly take no action to render his office accessible? This is discrimination by default in Butler's Australia.

“The average person with a disability doesn’t have the resources to do that. I’m fortunate that I do. But for 90 per cent of people with disabilities in Australia who also experience discrimination, the process is too hard and too exhausting.”

Do you think First Nations Australians may have wanted a voice to parliament for a good reason? This parliament ignores the will of the people a expressed in their own public submission process and collects no statistics on for, neutral or against as in the case of Butler's Law (2026 Kill the NDIS Amendment Act). Basic council planning permission consultations obtain these statistics, the parliament website could be reformed TODAY with a simple consent drop down, 1= Support, 0.5 = Neutral or Non-Binary and 0=Against. How hard is that?
#ProtectOurNDIS An image of an email received by the Community Affairs Committee secretary. It reads that the submitter's correspondence to Minister Butler's office has been forwarded to the secretariat of the Community Affairs committee. The secretariat does not compile statistics on the number of submissions in favour, neutral or not in favour of a bill. All submission are available to the committee, and inquiry reports provide an overview of the key themes raised in evidence, usually referencing many submissions and evidence received during public hearings.

Calling Canberra/Ngunnawal/Ngambri folks to a meeting to debrief our campaign against the NDIS cuts, to gather in solidarity and to talk about the next steps of our campaign.

Protect Our NDIS Canberra is a grassroots group of people with disabilities and supporters based in Canberra.

We have been fighting to stop the cuts to the NDIS, and campaigning for publicly funded disability supports available to everyone.

This meeting will be an opportunity for:

💜 A debrief on the campaign so far - and discussing what we've won (improved amendments to the bill, growing a grassroots community, increasing visibility)

💜Talking what strategies have worked and what hasn't worked

💜Checking in with each other about the impacts the new NDIS legislation has had on our access to support, and on our lives generally

💜Discussing the ACT context and coming policy changes such as foundational supports

💜Brainstorming strategies or directions we could take in the future (such as rallies or forums)

All are welcome - NDIS participants, people with disabilities, community and supporters.

If this is your first time coming to a campaign organising meeting, you are very welcome and we would love to have you!

We need to grow a huge movement to stop these cuts, and all perspectives are valuable.

RIOT SQUAD police were called on disabled protesters outside an NDIS office in Surry Hills.

Artist and advocate Kyle Montgomery said they were blocked from entering the building, on Monday 17 August, while the NDIS amendment bill was being deliberated on.
And this isn’t the only action that has been taking place across the country; mainstream media just doesn’t deem it important enough to report on.
So grateful I have been able to do this with Laneway. Thank you to Protect Our NDIS Gadigal for your advocacy, and thank you Kyle for fighting for NDIS participants—and for speaking with us about it.

I was supposed to post this a little while ago, but it’s still relevant!

Thanks to all the organisations who have endorsed the Speak-out against racism and bigotry so far! If you would like to endorse, scan the QR code in the image or click the link in our bio.

It’s important we get our on the street and challenge the racism and bigotry of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, that has been allowed to flourish by Labor and the Coalition’s anti-refugee policies, anti-trans laws and attacks on the NDIS.

Join the speak-out at Minogue Reserve in Glebe at 11am on Saturday, September 26 to hear from community campaigners, students and First Nations leaders before we march to the University of Sydney footbridge for an anti-racist banner drop.
