Knowing that this can't go on forever
One of us will spend our final days alone
But one day I'll be gone
And one day you'll be gone

I will play any stupid games you suggest, as long as I can have my preferred treats, thank you. #mainecoon #mainecoonsofinstagram #mainecoons #mainecoonlovers #mainecooncats #mainecoonworld by @prouse.v1

After a couple of hours in the gym the idea of a solid breakfast is pretty appealing - and these days I can even keep it all down. Washed down with an espresso shot and a long latte too 🤩 But here is the interesting part. That breakfast actually complies with the general directives that I was given by the RAH dietitian! I even (roughly) measured out the amounts of protein, carbs and fat macros to get it ‘right’. Hard to believe, but when tied in with a good exercise program that is the type of mix that will avoid the chances of malnutrition and osteoporosis. It’s just counterintuitive to everything I have believed a healthy diet should look like! And that’s just breakfast. Now I have to plan lunch and dinner - along with 3 snacks and a calcium booster with additional protein. There needs to be more to life than eating! ☹️☹️☹️☹️ by @prouse.v1
Why is it that it’s the little things that annoy the living 💩 out of me … and just like the mouth ulcer that can’t be left alone, I have to put it to rest! My MB came with two, fully functional original key fobs, however 13 years of gentle use had still taken their toll on the rubber button graphics. I was pointlessly cruising through EBay one night, when I came across brand new Mercedes-Benz key-fob cases for about US$20. The plastic cases, rubber remote buttons, spare emergency keys … the whole damn lot! US$40 and free freight, and two were on their way. A little later on the same night, I came across battery covers with silver AMG badges. As they say in the old movies, “in for a penny, in for a pound “. So I pounded myself - for another 2 X $15. A week later I had all of the components assembled, and wandered down to a well-known locksmith with my existing keys. Short conversation, “it can’t be done, and the internal electronics would need to be re-programmed for $150 or so”. I disagreed, but I was never going to win that fight. BTW, I would have immediately done it myself, but the neuropathy in my fingers precluded that. 2 more locksmiths, and I was given the same story twice over. I had no other answer except to take some ‘preemptive analgesia’ and get stuck in with a “failure is not an option” attitude! 15 minutes later the first one was done and working 💯, 10 minutes to smash out the other one, also to 💯% functionality. So now I have two brand new looking keys (with AMG badging 😁) and my key-obsession is addressed! It’s the little things ….. by @prouse.v1
It’s been a while between ‘these’ posts, but today was an appointment with the RAH Hepobilliary Fellow, Dr Wong - yes, a new face as Dr Han has gone to Sydney as a research resource. The difference was rolling in in the M-B, feeling at peace with myself and the world, regardless of outcome. Anyway, with CT scan output and blood tests in hand we had a candid and insightful discussion around where my health is at. I guess that it is fair to say I’m going to be here 🌍 a while longer, but don’t try to sell me an extended warranty 🤣 The good thing is that the undiagnosed mass that appeared after the Whipples Procedure has decreased in size, not significantly but that is the opposite of the expectation of a cancerous growth. That’s good. The blood tests were all over the place, with deficiencies here and there, some high spots that need to be addressed, and a lot of normalcy. That’s also good. His final overview was that I seem to have healed really well from the surgery, and that I look OK from a physiological perspective … and the rest of the discussion is in the hands of my oncologist, Mt Tahar, next Wednesday. My mind goes back to an early conversation with him, when he laid it out for me without sugar coating. “There is no real cure for pancreatic cancer, and that is a given. But there is time, and time is something that we can extend - quality time is the goal” I liked the sound of that. And it is working at the moment. But the 5 year survival rate is still only 1 to 5%, however maybe I’m to be one of the 5% 🤷‍♂️ by @prouse.v1
