MACEWAN ASSAULTED FEMALE STUDENTS ON CAMPUS🚨🚨🚨

Security and Peace Officers roughly dragged multiple students out of campus during a vigil for the martyred scholars.

They didn’t even let them say one name.

The tuition paying students are not allowed on campus for an entire week DURING midterms.

The students clearly communicated to security that if Administrators agreed to meet with them, they would end the demonstration.

THE FIGHT ISN’T OVER 🚨

The Chief continues to stand by his “educational trip” to the genocidal state. He, and the commission, hope that our community will just forget and move on.

But we won’t.

It’s important to continue speaking against these actions until real change is made. The EPS Commission supposedly holds the department accountable and yet approved of the trip and the decision to adopt Israeli AI surveillance technology.

Request to speak at the upcoming commission meeting and show that our community remains outraged at this blatant disregard for Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim lives.

If you’re hesitant, we will be providing a template to guide your script. Members of the public are also able, and should, attend the meeting as observers whether online or in person.

This weeks incident is unfortunately only the most recent in a long list of crimes perpetrated by MacEwan against students advocating for Palestine 🚨

One month into our THIRD year of advocacy on campus, it is dauntingly apparent how much more security is present. Sources close to administration warn us of their plans to continue attacking their students. An attempt to douse our flame. But the fire of resistance and liberation is one you can never put out.

Our request has always been simple: meet with your students and help MacEwan be on the right side of history. This request has been ignored, declined, and dismissed at nearly every level. Yet, despite the harm they’ve inflicted on us, we are still willing and ready to meet. It is time to take MacEwan off this path and set things right.

Our institutions are meant to be harbours of justice. Where thoughts become action and action becomes change. Grant MacEwan was meant to be that kind of university. Not one where a culture of silence and fear ran rampant through our halls. Where blood soaked books become our only source of information. Where surveillance is common and cries go unheard.

We hope to never add another crime to this list. We hope to create a MacEwan free of complicity where EVERYONE is welcome.

A year ago, nearly to the day, 13 pro-Palestinian protestors were arrested after being ambushed by EPS. Two of them were charged and held for 17 hours.

All because they answered the martyr, Anas Al-Sharif’s, call: do not forget Gaza.

The protest at the Anas Al-Sharif Bridge (Walterdale) was in direct response to EPCOR’s continued complicity in the occupation through the usage of Israeli water meters. Meters they are forcing into our homes with the threat of either shutting off our water — a basic human necessity — or paying extra if we do not comply. A reality that still exists a year later.

For the first time since the arrests, one of the protestors will be giving a public statement on the one year anniversary.

Join us tomorrow at the MacEwan Clocktower (10700 104 Ave NW) at 11 AM to hear their testimony and to remember the call to justice that brought us together that night.

Yesterday all MacEwan students received an email from Craig Monk. The day before, all staff and faculty received a very similar email from Monk AND Trimbee.

It is clear through these emails that MacEwan is attempting to frame this situation to fit their agenda.

A reminder, Craig Monk is a vocal and public Zionist. We reject his framing, and we reject MacEwan’s false accusations.

Three students were violently dragged off campus yesterday and banned for a week during their midterms. All three are reporting bruising and residual pain.

Meanwhile, Craig Monk is spreading lies and trying to twist the truth. All a zionist does is lie.

While we help our friends deal with their injuries and next steps, we will be cancelling today’s study-in. This doesn’t mean our responsibility to represent Palestine on campus ends. REMEMBER OUR MARTYRS 🇵🇸

Join us at Allard Hall on Oct. 7th as we remember and honour the students and scholars murdered by the Israeli regime.

Over 21,000 students and scholars killed in 3 years.

And MacEwan is complicit in every single one.

In their silence and blatant complicity, MacEwan has participated in a complete scholasticide; the systematic destruction of the educational system in Gaza. An attempt by the occupiers to impact generations of Palestinians. But Palestine, Gaza especially, remains one of the most educated and literate populations on Earth. A testament to their resilience.

We will read the names of the martyrs on Wednesday and allow that resilience to push us forward as we continue to fight for justice on their behalf.

WEEK OF ACTION SCHEDULE 📣

We are horrifically reaching 3 years of genocide in Gaza and the accelerated occupation of Palestinian land.

The fact that this genocide had gone on for THREE years and not a power in the world has stopped it is unfathomable. But it cannot be a reason to stop. Or to slow down. If anything, this should fill us with rage and dedication to continue fighting.

Rage against your institutions.

Rage against your governments.

Rage against every complicit person or party that allowed even a drop of blood to be spilled.

We will continue to fight for full divestment from our University and we will fight to make our campus a place of justice and humanity.
