Join us for our annual National Housing Day of Action Event on Sunday November 22! This year our theme is "Stop the War on the Poor" in honour of our houseless neighbours who are victimized and criminalized by each level of government. We will meet on the Alberta Legislature North Plaza at 12PM and march to the Homeless Memorial Plaza where a rally will begin at 12:45PM. This rally will showcase several grassroots organizations in Edmonton and focus on collective organizing and mutual aid.

The executive members of the MacEwan Indigenous Students Club condemn the unjust use of force towards our fellow students. Yesterday on October 22nd, 2026 the security employed by MacEwan University used excessive force upon the tuition paying students of the @psa.macewan club.
We cannot sit and be silent when there is active censorship happening on our campus. We stand with the students of PSA MacEwan and will continue to use our voices.

We say this not just as students, but as Indigenous students who know all too well the harms of staying silent when injustices occur.

We must NEVER stay silent, we must use our voices to support and uplift one another.

Statement on the repression of PSA

On October 22nd, the Palestinian Student Alliance (PSA) attempted to hold a “Peoples Tribunal” in the Library of MacEwan University. They were met with vicious physical repression by campus security. A student was detained after the tribunal was forcibly broken up, and a protest formed, which forced the release of the student. During the protest, at least 20 police vehicles, with dozens of police responding; many dressed in riot gear. Anyone passing by the police response would guess that there was a school shooter, or a bomb threat. But all of this was for one protest against genocide.

A couple of us happened to be nearby and were able to join the protest. This was an inspiring democratic action that prevented worse injustice from taking place. We commend all those who participated.

MacEwan's administration has not addressed these events, but given previous statements, it’s clear that security was acting at the direction of the administration, who also must have called the police. These actions are consistent with MacEwan's approach, which has been utterly hostile to the Palestine solidarity movement, and its demands. This is true about universities across Canada, who have repressed the movement and fallen in line with Canadian imperialism, on the side of Israel’s genocide.

We stand in full solidarity with PSA. We condemn these attacks on the right to protest. We will fight against undemocratic attacks in the future.
