When people-pleaser Jay gains guardianship of a curious tree spirit, she must find the joy in being human, or risk teaching the birch that life is something lived for other people.

🌳

Tree book is happening! It has been signed by @spacewizardpress
I am so excited announce this, and almost on International Asexuality Day (just one day out... close enough) as I have a demi main character in this book! I can't wait for you all to meet Jay (Jay has mixed feelings about this much attention).

🌳 A text post reads
Do you want...?
Tired demisexual and chaotic bi own voices rep
University decisions
Trees with opinions
Friendship break up
Friends > relationships (especially toxic ones)
Stop glamorising the grind and take up crafts

Swipe for news!

My writing goals for 2026! Some are similar or even the same as last year, cos those were good challenges and good habits, and they're things I feel I need a goal on to actively maintain (like writing poetry, or keeping a steady stream of submissions going), and cos goals don't always have to be bigger and better.

I was also inspired by @jmoffattwrites to make a bingo card for the year. As I already had my goals, I'm calling this 'enrichment bingo' - reminders of the nice things I can do when I pry myself away from the laptop.

I am also very excited about my personal goal and yes, I will post them all here. A notebook layout titles 2026 writing goals, which lists:
- 5 submissions of any kind (poetry, short story, novel queries) per month
- Write a poem about month
- Take at least three poems to poetry workshop
- Get Mess WIP from 0th to 1st Draft
- Have one month where I write 2000 words a day, Mon-Fri
- Approach 5 indie bookstores/libraries about stocking me or doing events with me by @pscwillis

Join us for the weekend at Fantasycon! It was absolutely fantastic this year with lots of exciting author panels, fun role playing games and readings. Plus Bar Con, although it would have been good to spend a bit more time there.

Participating was great and I think I’ve caught the bug 👀 hopefully I can do it again next year, if @britishfantasysociety will let me lol! I’ve certainly got enough inspiration and book recs to see me through to next year! It was a pleasure meeting up with old friends - no matter how briefly - and making new ones. It was a pleasure hanging out with @alethearlyons and @pscwillis and seeing @joaosilvawrites briefly (although 😭 no photos). Happy days.

Had an absolute blast at Fantasy Con! Thanks to everyone who was friendly and made me feel welcome. I did not take many pictures with people but your kindness was appreciated.

Shout out to my fellow flash fiction death match members, @chronicleflask, @sian_ohara and the amazing @jules.bennett.83 for stepping in at zero notice, and our moderator @shona.kinsella

I had a great time at readings and panels, seeing my travel buddies @meljrey and @alethearlyons doing their thing, and hearing @katiebrucecake
and @sarahkennedydaley by extension.

I really enjoyed doing the Cosy Fantasy panel with @chiarabullenauthor, @keithwdickinson and @davidgreenwriter.

I didn't do as much socialising as I wanted cos I was too interested in all the panels, but did manage to cross paths and say a few quick hellos. Already looking forward to next year!

What a fab day! I got to listen to a fascinating author interview with cli-fi author @emilyebuchanan as part of @wolseywriters (and get my copy of her amazing debut signed!), then spent the afternoon following @quirkhousetheatre as they delivered flash fiction story time for grown ups (featuring my story!). A bit of shopping at the local author fair followed by an interesting talk about LGBTQIA+ Life in the suburbs by @johngrindrod. Not to mention meeting lots of other lovely bookish people along the way. Looking forward to doing even more tomorrow! by @pscwillis
