In this illuminating epistolary dialogue, poets Annie Wenstrup and Asa Drake discuss their relationships to food, body image, desire, belonging, and landscape, meditating on the powerful ways poetry can make difficult experiences legible. Rooted in personal history and questions of craft, Wenstrup and Drake’s correspondence shows us how friendship is a tender and ongoing act of witness, care, and artistic practice.

For today’s #LitMagWeek post, our staff are thrilled to spotlight some other journals we love!

“AGNI, Colorado Review, and West Branch inspire me as both a poet and an editor. They consistently champion discovery, innovation, and surprise, and the writers they first publish often become my future favorite writers!” – Rachel Dillon, Managing Editor

“The Baffler is a treat; it’s one of the most beautiful magazines I’ve ever seen, with incredible art direction by No Ideas graphic design studio, and cutting political and social commentary that is simultaneously hilarious and horrifying. I’m also a huge fan of the poetry they publish!” – Allison Truj, Art Director

“I picked One Story to showcase because I love that each issue is dedicated to a single work of prose that I can slip into my tote and carry around to annotate, dog-ear, and interact with all on its own. I especially enjoyed ‘HD/DH’ by Daniel Torday (Issue No. 313). The Yale Review is also one of my favorites to read because they publish incredible essays and reviews that feature exciting new perspectives in the literary community!” – Hayley Pisciotti, Editorial Associate

“I love reading 32 Poems—I always find that the poems within strike the difficult balance of weightiness and brevity, wielding the music of language with purpose. I also appreciate that the journal champions emerging writers, something we also value at Ploughshares!” – Lachlan Applegate, Marketing Associate by @psharesjournal
