✊🏽🚪 Don’t let Trump and ICE win without a fight! Papers or not, everyone has certain rights they can use when an agent is trying to deport them. We are workers with dignity and we deserve to stay where we are. One of the most important things to remember is to refuse to open the door unless ICE has a signed warrant from a judge.

ICE cannot legally enter your home without this warrant. If an ICE agent or someone you suspect is from ICE knocks on your door, calmly and firmly ask them to slide the warrant under the door.

❌ If the agent doesn’t have a warrant — DON’T OPEN

❌ If the agent shows you a warrant that doesn’t have a signature on it — DON’T OPEN

❌ If the agent shows you a warrant signed by someone who is not a judge — DON’T OPEN

❌ If the agent shows up and says they’re from the local police and just want to talk — DON’T OPEN

❌ If the agent shows up and has a signed warrant from a judge but the person listed does not live at your address — DON’T OPEN

Join us for a free screening of the powerful documentary, Harvest of Empire, based on the book by journalist Juan González.

Harvest of Empire explores how mass displacement and forced migration to the U.S. is a direct consequence of U.S. imperialist foreign policy. For generations, the pursuit of corporate profit and geopolitical control has destabilized sovereign nations, exploited labor, and extracted resources across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. To truly understand immigration today, we must look at it through the lens of imperialism and capitalism. We cannot understand today’s immigration crisis without acknowledging how U.S. actions created it in the first place.

Come watch, learn, and discuss the root causes of global migration with PSL and the local community!

VICTORY: A federal judge has dismissed the Trump DOJ’s FACE Act lawsuit against @pslnewjersey and other pro-Palestine protesters!

The court ruled that a social media post calling for protest was protected First Amendment speech—a call to assemble—not a threat of violence.

@thepcjf called the case vindictive viewpoint discrimination. DOJ attorney Harmeet Dhillon has said the department aims to “dismantle” groups advocating for Palestinian human rights.

On Saturday, Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo, a Plainfield father, son, and husband who built his life in this country for nearly 20 years, was killed in ICE custody at Delaney Hall due to medical neglect and unlivable conditions. This is the second reported death at Delaney Hall in less than a year, while those detained and community supporters have been continuously reporting fatal conditions at the center and demanding its closure. He should still be here.

His family deserves answers and justice. Our community members deserve to live in peace, where no one suffers or dies because a private prison company values profit over human life.

We call for full justice for Edwin and his family, the immediate closure of Delaney Hall, the release of all people detained, and for a complete end to the system of for-profit detention and ICE!

‼️Justice for Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo ‼️ Today, community members and organizations gathered outside of Delaney Hall in Newark to demand justice and memorialize the life of Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo, who was killed on Saturday while in ICE custody due to dangerous conditions and intentional medical neglect. On Friday July 31st, Edwin complained of numbness in his face and hand. He had diabetes and high blood pressure, but was not being given medicine regularly since he was detained in June.

Edwin is the second person reported to have died at Delaney Hall after Haitian immigrant Jean Wilson Brutus, who died in ICE custody in December less than 24 hours after entering Delaney Hall, with many more reports of injuries, medical neglect, and inhumane conditions from people detained.

We demand justice for Edwin, Jean, and all victims of ICE terror. We demand an end to the inhumane system of immigrant detention, and for an end to ICE terror in our communities! taken in Newark, New Jersey by @pslnewjersey

Last Friday, PSL NJ came together with community members to screen and discuss Cuba After Castro, a documentary examining the island’s revolutionary path more than six decades after 1959.

We were honored to host co-director Matthew Belen for a Q&A following the screening, where community members asked questions and deepened our collective understanding of Cuba’s revolutionary history, pushing back against decades of U.S. propaganda in the process.

Screenings like this matter because U.S. imperialism thrives on our ignorance. Understanding Cuba’s fight to build and defend socialism in the face of relentless economic warfare is part of building solidarity here at home. As socialists, we stand with the Cuban people and their right to self-determination, and we will keep amplifying their voices until the blockade ends.

Join us this Friday, July 24th at 6:30PM at The HUUB for a special screening of Cuba After Castro & Q&A with the film’s director, Matt Belen!

Cuba After Castro delivers the definitive portrait of Miguel Díaz-Canel, Cuba’s first leader born after the Revolution. Through this unprecedented in-depth interview we see a vision of revolutionary Cuba suppressed in the west: a nation of collective values and defiance in the face of constant threats from the United States. The film chronicles Diaz-Canel’s formation as an unexpected successor to the Castros — an unassuming organizer molded by the revolutionary process. Confronting a perfect storm of intensified U.S. sanctions, a media war, a devastating pandemic, and historic domestic protests. Díaz-Canel reflects on navigating these existential crises for the nation he has come to lead.

‼️ NEW DATE ‼️ Due to thunderstorms / flash flood warnings 🌦️⛈️

🚨 NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION — NEW ACTION DATE, SUNDAY JULY 19TH, 12PM

📍 Independence Park (Ironbound Neighborhood), Newark, NJ
🕓12PM

The entire country must rise up to stop ICE’s campaign of terror against immigrant communities.

On July 7, ICE agents murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston. Days later, ICE murdered Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine. These deaths are not accidents—they are the direct result of a racist deportation machine fueled by the Trump administration and billions of dollars in funding approved by Congress.

We refuse to be silent while families are torn apart, communities are terrorized, and immigrants are targeted simply for seeking a better life. The people have the power to stop ICE’s violence through mass action and organized resistance.

Join us in Newark as communities across the country take to the streets to demand:
✊ Stop ICE terror
✊ Justice for every victim of ICE
✊ Full rights and dignity for all immigrants

In the name of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Joan Sebastian Guerrero, Alex Pretti, Renee Nicole Good, Jaime Alanis, Keith Porter, and every victim of ICE violence—we will not look away.

See you Sunday, July 19 at 12 PM at Independence Park in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood! by @pslnewjersey
