“last journal entry” (2025)

A video work and my last work for the year.

Video is a rectangle. The width is bigger than its height. The imagery is split in half, horizontally. Top half is a flat digital grey. Bottom half is a drawing of a somber picket fence under a murky sky. The fence moves as if seen through the window of a train.

The fence comes to a halt and remains still every time you hear my voice or any sounds.

As I speak, the words appear on the screen. All the words are yellow except for the word “alligator” which is red. The words on the screen get larger as my voice gets more excited.

This year I made 2 journal entry works with a third one almost completed. I am screening “untitled journal entry_2025” this week in Digital Chutzpah - part of @phillyjfm The work includes Jewish humor, lyrics and lore.

I am sharing with you here “untitled journal entry_ words 2025.” The words recited in this video are from a New York Times article titled, “These Words Are Disappearing in the New Trump Administration,” by Karen Yourish, Annie Daniel, Saurabh Datar, Isaac White and Lazaro Gamio, March 7, 2025.

The words are recited in the order that they are listed in the article. Any deviations are caused by errors in my recitation.

The imagery is a somber picket fence under a murky sky as if seen through the window of a moving train. The fence comes to a halt and remains still every time you hear my voice. As I speak - the words appear on the screen in a white sans serif font.

During the summer of 1998 I completed 20 American Flag Kits. 3 kits are included in “The 55th Anniversary People’s Flag Show.” They are battered but usable. The opening is 11/12 – 6-9:30pm – rsvp @judsoncommons I will be there around 7:30. Hope to see you there! Check out the great events that are happening 11/9 – 11/15.
