🎥 NOW LIVE: ONLINE SCREENING ‘ILLEGIBILITY FOR ALL’ 🎥 Featuring: Seo Hye Lee, Louise Hickman, Jordan Lord, Morisha Moodley, Finnegan Shannon and Paula Stuttman. Illegibility for all is an online screening event co-curated with Emily Simmons, founder of Crip Cinema Archive, held as part of our current exhibition Flare-Up. The chosen moving-image works explore the conditions of access in film today. Each work is made by artists for whom access is an active, creative dimension of their practice – not a bolt-on, a translation, or a segregated stage of a film’s lifespan. These filmmakers are inventing new modes of access, integrating it into the fabric of their work, and posing questions to their audiences along the way. Sign up for a ticket via the link in our bio to receive the screening links - the films will be available to watch in your own time until the close of the exhibition on 16th August. A Q&A between curators Natasha Hoare, Mariana Lemos and Emily Simmons is also available to watch. 📷[top] Louise Hickman and Finnegan Shannon, Captioning on Captioning, 2022 [still]. Courtesy of LUX. 📷[bottom] Morisha Moodley, Sideweighs and Backwords, 2026 [still]. Courtesy of the artist. Two films stills are shown. The top image is a still from Louise Hickman and Shannon Finnegan’s video artwork called ‘Captioning on Captioning’. On a solid white background, black text in capital letters in a handwritten style reads ‘>> CAPTIONING IS ACCESS WORK’. The bottom image is a still from Morisha Moodley’s video artwork called ‘Sideweighs and Backwords’. A monoprint printmaking technique has been used to recreate archival footage. In the collage of abstracted images, the repeated picture of burning candle can be made out. At the bottom of the image a caption reads 'A sun that lets you feel the rub of your thighs together'.

ILLEGIBILITY FOR ALL Online from 04 Aug Free tickets - link in bio Illegibility for all is a screening event held as part of the current exhibition Flare-Up at @goldsmithscca. The event presents moving-image works that explore the conditions of access in film today. Each work is made by artists for whom access is an active, creative dimension of their practice – not a bolt-on, a translation, or a segregated stage of a film’s lifespan. These filmmakers are inventing new modes of access, integrating it into the fabric of their work, and posing questions to their audiences along the way. This screening is a space for critique. A place to interrogate the idea of “creative access”. To wonder about the balance of aesthetics and function. To ask questions rather than supply answers – except one: access, everywhere, now. Featuring: @seohyel, @louhicky, @jrd_lord , @morishamoodley, @finneganshann0n, and @pstuttman. Thanks to @marianaamlemos and @natasha___hoare and the rest of the CCA team for making it possible 🩵 ♿️ All films will have Descriptive Subtitles (DS) and open audio description (AD). Please get in touch if you have any questions or requests. Crip Cinema Archive stands in unwavering solidarity with the members of Goldsmiths UCU (GUCU) as they strike to protect jobs and working conditions. We condemn the ongoing restructuring programs and the threat of compulsory redundancies that undermine the academic integrity of Goldsmiths, and call upon the management to immediately halt redundancies, end punitive pay deductions, and engage in meaningful negotiations with GUCU. Image descriptions in comments. Sideweighs and Backwords still.

RestFest briefly comes out of a post-festival hibernation to tell you that we have a new resource on our website! This new webpage serves as an index for you to easily find links to all the films that are currently publicly available on the filmmakers’ personal sites 📹 + some trailers, excerpts, and more! CORRECTION: “Hidden (excerpt)” comes from artist Olga F. Koroleva @olgakoroleva_studio ❤️ We have some other fun new pages up too ✨ 🥄🫂 Moving very slowly at the moment, so if we haven’t been able to get back to your DM or email yet, please know that you are not forgotten and that we are very grateful for your patience. 🫂🥄 Access note: the films linked come from the filmmakers’ personal sites, not RestFest, and therefore may not include all of the access measured by that were available during the festival. Join us today for the final event of the inaugural RestFest Film Festival! ❤️💫 In just a few hours, we will gather for a live screening and Q&A for the Collaborative Film created from Kit Blamire’s wonderful Collective Filmmaking Workshop: Processing Pandemic Grief Together 📹🫂❤️ * Thursday, August 22 * 11am PT / 12pm MT / 1pm CT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST / 8pm CEST.  To join us, reserve your free ticket through our Virtual Theater 🛌💫 ID: The front view looking out from inside a car. The view is of green trees and bushes at the edge of a parking lot, with grey buildings in the background.
