🎭 Announcing PSU Theater Arts’ 2026–27 season!

Get ready for a season of wildly inventive, hilarious and diabolical plays, beginning November 12.

After 2,300 audience members packed the house for Spring Awakening last winter, Oregon ArtsWatch celebrated our thriving Theater Arts program in a feature story. Now we’re ready to take that momentum and run with it, with three wildly different plays that promise to surprise, provoke and delight.

Get your tickets now and join us for all three productions! (Link in bio)

🖨️ November 12 - 21, 2026
"Do You Feel Anger?"
By Mara Nelson-Greenberg
Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply disturbing. An empathy coach arrives at a workplace warped by toxic masculinity. How far can empathy go?

🧙🏿 February 25 - March 6, 2027
"Gretel! The Musical"
Book by Jason Tremblay & Suzan Zeder; music & lyrics by Jenn Hartmann Luck, Zeder & Tremblay
A co-production with Oregon Children's Theatre
The spellbinding journey of a young girl learning to harness her own ferocity, tend to her grief and claim her power.

💬 May 20 - 29, 2027
"Cyrano de Bergerac"
By Edmond Rostand
Freely adapted by Martin Crimp
A dazzling adaptation where skewering wordplay takes the place of traditional swordfighting, while a love triangle, built on borrowed language, sparks questions around truth, identity, and the nature of connection.

No show is complete without its production team! Get to know five of the creatives who helped design and manage “As You Like It.” They each chose a song that reminds them of the show, thematically or visually. When you come to see the show this week, or if you’ve seen it already, comment with a song you associate with “As You Like It.”

As we kickstart our second week of performances, enjoy a little get-to-know-you with ten cast members from “As You Like It.” These actors gave some insight into their character interpretations by answering, "What's a song your character would listen to on repeat and why?" When you come to see the show this week, or if you’ve seen it already, comment with a song you think a character would add to their playlist!

“And this our life, exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in everything.”
-Duke Senior (Act II, Scene 1, Line 15)

Last Saturday, cast members showcased moments from “As You Like It” at the Portland Farmer’s Market. Actors performed scenes and monologues interspersed with music by Amiens & The Forestiers. Lennox, who plays Orlando, brought his camera and took incredible photos of our performers.

Our sincerest gratitude to @portlandfarmers for hosting our event and those who came out to support the cast! While the farmer's market sneak peek is over, you can see the full play at opening night next week.

“We that are true lovers run into strange capers. But as all is mortal in nature, so is all nature in love mortal in folly.”
-Touchstone (Act II, Scene 4, Line 53)

How now! One of the cast members of “As You Like It” has been taking pictures on their digicam. A behind the scenes look into rehearsals through the lens of Mateo, who plays Silvius and Charles. “If music be the food of love, play on.”
-Orsino from “Twelfth Night” (Act I, Scene 1, Line 1)

Meet Amiens & The Forestiers, a band of musicians that dwell in the Forest of Arden! Greta, our Sound Designer, has been writing original compositions for “As You Like It.” They play the character Amiens, a loyal courtier and uplifting songster. The Forestiers consist of Evii, Cooper, Emmett and Jeff, who are all actors and musicians in this production. Come see these talented musicians put a contemporary spin on this classical text!

“Under the greenwood tree / Who loves to lie with me
…Come hither, come hither, come hither”
-Amiens, Act II, Scene 5, Line 1

The cast of “As You Like It” enjoying the sunshine and playing in the park blocks! The musicians gave a sneak peek at what they’d been working on, and actors practiced feeding in lines to one another. Line feeding is an exercise where the “feeder” will follow an actor throughout a scene and “feed” them lines in a neutral tone. This is a useful tool when actors are early into memorizing. Line feeding gives them freedom of movement and increased connection to their scene partners by resolving the need to carry a script. Come see “As You Like It” and venture with us into the forest!
