To my Sunshine

I’ve started and stopped this no less than 57 times because I don’t want to admit this is your last recital
.
It’s truly been one of the greatest joys of my life to see you light up any stage you walked on for the last 14 years, watching you become an incredible artist and thrive in anything you set your mind to, and navigate a wide range of wins, setbacks, and injuries with an inspiring amount of grace and tenacity that brings me tears at the thought of this stage of your life being over.

Not only am I going to miss watching you dance, but I think almost just as impactful as I’m sitting here in the next room with the 97th draft of this woefully inadequate post with eyes mistier than I’ll ever admit…
.
I’ll miss the 20 minute drives to dance - hearing you process through life, laughing with you about anything and everything
.
I’ll miss the 20 minute drives home from dance - pretending like I’ll ever have the capacity to say “no” to a request for ice cream
.
I’ll miss the winter shows
I’ll miss the spring shows
I’ll miss the recitals
I’ll miss the long rehearsals
I’ll miss all of the extended time with you
.
I am and will always be your biggest fan
.
To the instructors and mentors across New York, Maryland, and Florida that have inspired and shaped my girl into who she is today - I’m forever in your debt.
