Our Hearts Are With Wainwright 💔

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of Canadian Armed Forces members at CFB Wainwright, Alberta.

At Diversified Rehabilitation Group, we stand alongside our military community during this heartbreaking time.

To the families who have lost loved ones, we extend our deepest condolences. To those injured, we wish you strength and healing. And to the fellow service members, first responders, and medical teams facing the aftermath of this tragedy, we offer our heartfelt support and gratitude.

We know that the impact of tragedy reaches far beyond those directly involved. It touches families, colleagues, and entire communities.

To everyone affected: You are not alone.

Today, and in the difficult days ahead, we stand together in compassion, remembrance, and support.

From all of us at Diversified Rehabilitation Group. ❤️

Day 4 of our 14-Day Connection Journey. Today’s practice is about understanding the silence between you.

Sometimes, one partner stays quiet to avoid adding to the other’s burden. The other may experience that silence as being shut out. What feels protective to one person can feel lonely to the other.

Today, make room for a gentle conversation without pressure to share everything.

Tool:
Ask each other:
“When we go quiet, what does that silence feel like for you?”

Take turns sharing, then simply listen.
• No assuming what the other person means.
• No interrupting.
• No pressure to explain more than feels comfortable.

If you’re not ready to talk, try:
“I’m finding it hard to put this into words. I care about you, and I’d like us to check in tomorrow.”

You can respect each other’s need for space while offering reassurance that connection still matters.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and follow along for all 14 days. Today, start with one small moment of openness.

Day 3 of our 14-Day Connection Journey. Today’s practice is about making space for the partner who’s been holding it all together.

Checking in, adjusting plans, and staying patient take energy. When you’re focused on supporting someone you love, your own needs can become harder to voice.

Your needs belong in the conversation too. You don’t have to wait until you’re exhausted to ask for support.

Tool:
Take turns completing this sentence:
“One thing I’ve been carrying lately is ____, and one thing that would help me is ____.”

Then simply listen.
• No comparing who has it harder.
• No interrupting.
• No defending.

Together, choose one manageable way to offer support this week. That might mean sharing a task, protecting time to rest, or making room for an honest check-in.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and follow along for all 14 days. Today, give each other space to be supported.

Day 2 of our 14-Day Connection Journey. Today’s practice is about understanding why you may feel distant even when you still love each other.

One partner may pull back when overwhelmed, while the other reaches out for reassurance. Both can end up feeling misunderstood, even though each is looking for support in a different way.

Today, get curious about what’s behind the distance.

Tool:
Ask each other:
“When you feel overwhelmed, do you need space, reassurance, or something else?”
Take turns sharing, then simply listen.
• No fixing.
• No interrupting.
• No defending.

If you need space, try saying:
“I need a little time to myself, but I still want to connect. Can we check in after dinner?”
If you need reassurance, try:
“I can give you some space. Knowing when we’ll reconnect would help me.”

Save this post, send it to your partner, and follow along for all 14 days. Today, start with one honest conversation about what support looks like for each of you.

Day 1 of our 14-Day Connection Journey. Today’s practice is about understanding that when the shift ends, stress may stay.

Coming home doesn’t always mean feeling present. You may be in the same room but feel far apart, with little energy left for conversation. One partner may need time to decompress while the other is feeling depleted and hoping for connection.

Today, focus on understanding what each of you needs during that transition.

Tool:
Ask each other:
‘What would help you feel supported when we reconnect after a shift?”

Take turns sharing, then simply listen.
- No fixing.
- No interrupting.
- No defending.

Together, choose one small thing to try: a quiet pause, a brief check-in, or an agreed time to reconnect.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and follow along for all 14 days. Start with one small moment of understanding.

Today, we remember the police and peace officers who lost their lives in service to their communities.

Behind every name is a life, a family, colleagues, and a community that continues to feel their absence. We honour their service and hold those who love them in our thoughts.

From all of us at Diversified Rehabilitation Group, we remember.

Every so often we're reminded exactly why this work matters - and this is one of those moments. Reading Sarah's letter about her journey through our Traumatic Stress Recovery Program reminded us why we do this every single day.

To every first responder who has trusted us with their story: thank you. Your courage - both on the job and in asking for help - is what drives this program forward. We'll keep showing up for you, always.

If you or someone you love is a first responder struggling in silence, know that support is out there. Reach out - you don't have to carry it alone.

Day 20, today’s practice is about choosing each other:
You made it to the final day of the Stronger Together Reset. Over the past 20 days, you’ve taken time to communicate, listen, reconnect, understand each other’s stress, and make space for your relationship.

As a first responder couple, you know that life won’t always be easy. There will be long shifts, difficult calls, stress, exhaustion, and seasons that test you. The goal was never to create a relationship without hardship. It was to build the skills and connection to face that hardship together.

Today, we practice carrying these tools forward.

Tool:
Choose Each Other

Take a moment together and reflect:
What is one thing we’ve learned about each other over these 20 days that we want to carry forward?

Then remind each other:
Stress may change our journey. It doesn’t have to define our relationship.

Congratulations on completing all 20 days.

You showed up for each other. You made space for honest conversations. You practiced new ways of communicating and reconnecting. Most importantly, you chose to invest in your relationship.

The reset may be ending, but the work doesn’t have to.

Choose each other.
Again.
Tomorrow.
Every day.
Stronger together.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and congratulate one another for completing all 20 days together.

Day 19, today’s practice is about celebrating progress:
In a relationship, progress doesn’t always look like big changes. Sometimes it looks like handling a difficult conversation differently, checking in when you normally wouldn’t, listening a little longer, or finding your way back to each other after a hard day.

As first responder couples, you’ve likely faced challenges together that have tested your patience, communication, and resilience. It’s important to recognize not only what still needs work, but also how far you’ve come.

Today, we practice acknowledging your growth.

Tool:
Celebrate Progress

Ask each other:
“What are we doing better today than we were six months ago?”

Take time to identify the changes you’ve made, the challenges you’ve worked through, and the small victories that may have gone unnoticed.
Maybe you communicate better. Maybe you understand each other’s stress more clearly. Maybe you’ve learned to repair after conflict or make more time for each other.

Whatever your progress looks like, acknowledge it.

You don’t have to be where you want to be yet to be proud of how far you’ve come.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and commit to completing all 20 days together. Small steps lead to meaningful change.
