Kindred — Live Performance
Public Record off-site show opening at Silo6 on 01/05/26’

Across two sessions, we shared this experience with around 400 people, it was super incredible.

Huge thanks to all the artists involved, and to everyone who came to support and experience it with us. The atmosphere was intimate and immersive, with activations that awakened every sense.

Kindred’s live performance reminded us of the transformative power of art - a powerful vision of what humans can create through the universal language of art here in Aotearoa.

I’m deeply fulfilled.

Midnight Interval by Kara Burrowes

Largest painting by the new artist for Public Record

Kara Burrowes is the artist from Ōtautahi with a background in art, design and landscape architecture, Kara has an affinity towards the three dimensional and her work has a sculpture quality. Her background has fueled her connection with and appreciation of the landscape. Kara’s work are very dreamy, her intuition of working peripheral observations and fleeting memories with medium that she uses, expressing impermanence, hiraeth, longing, nostalgia and identity.

This painting which made specially for the opening our new gallery, create a quite sense of belonging almost like walking through a dream and trying to remember the feeling of it. It was exactly the kind of dream-like work we wanted to welcome people into the new space.

Last night, we celebrated the opening of ᴘᴜʙʟɪᴄ ʀᴇᴄᴏʀᴅ’s new gallery space on Great North Road in Tāmaki Makaurau. The inaugural exhibition included a room of certamics by Ōtautahi-based artist Carmel Pollock, as well as new work by Kara Burrowes and Peter Derksen.

Beautiful energy and excitements…big moment.

A full room of wonderful works and people were there. Great way to kick off with our new chapter. It means a lot to have you here for us. Great energy and excitement. Thank you all for coming. Thank you Carmel and her family to be here from Ōtautahi, Christchurch at the opening with us.

For the upcoming opening event, we have another new artist to introduce.

Peter Derksen @penticott is an artist and archivist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. His work traces the material entanglements between systems of production, consumption, and human labour. Matter, fragments, and words are compressed through craft processes, emerging into new forms that evoke geological and bodily phenomena. Recent exhibitions include PRESSED (2026) with Rowan Thomson, MEANWHILE Gallery @meanwhile_gallery , Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and I dream of roads (2024), RM Gallery @rm.gallery , Tāmaki Makaurau. He is an MFA graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts (2023) @elamartists, a recurring finalist in the Portage Ceramic Awards at @te_uru_gallery, and in 2026 undertook a ceramics residency with Auckland Studio Potters @aucklandstudiopotters and a writing residency with RM.
