Had to make one last stop on my way out of town.

It's been a long, hard climb, but I believe dancing can get you through anything. I know it can, because it has, and with everything else that goes on at these shows, the sole reason I come, is to dance and have my soul rocked - both kinds: rock 'n' rolled, and like a baby in a cradle. One to make you forget your troubles, the other to remind you, and to let you know you'll be ok. Ten years ago at Fare Thee Well I started dancing to the Grateful Dead (alone), and over time I watched a big beautiful family form around me. One by one, the most beautiful people I've ever known. It took a long time for me to say "hello," and that's because we don't always need to. What we say to each other on the dance floor is often far deeper and more important than words. In fact, that's the very essence of dance, and dancing to the Grateful Dead is a language all its own. The conversations we have in that language mean a lot to me. I remember them. I recognize you from other lifetimes by the way you dance, and it's so fun to find you again, and to share those smiles of recognition. I may not always be next to you, but my wish for you is that you never stop dancing, and I just want to say THANK YOU...for dancing with me.

And a huge shoutout to my ancient brother, Sage, @forthebiirds for creating this beautiful piece of art that came to mean so much to so many people this Spring. May it last a thousand years, and may we all dance through those years together. ⚡️💀⚡️ taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @pudmcqueen

"Going, Going, Gone" performed by LONG TIME CURSE 6/12/26 at The Plough and Stars, San Francisco, CA -
Hey now, friends...just getting around to sharing some of what happened when we got together to celebrate the great Bob Dylan up there in the Bay...and what happened, in my estimation, was beautiful. Thanks in no small part to these boys here all around me, and everyone that showed up to support and to dance and to celebrate the greatest living artist still walking among us. It's an incredible honor to sing these songs, and it's something I'll continue to do, as long as I'm able, and whenever the opportunity presents itself. I am overflowing with gratitude and love, and I'm still learning how to present this music and this songbook, so please bear with me and walk beside me, and dance and sing along with me, as I do. More clips from this once in a lifetime weekend coming soon! This time around, Long Time Curse was:
Chip Godwin - Vocals @pudmcqueen
Chris Voorhees - Lead Guitar @bentmyear
Jamie Daniels - Rhythm Guitar/Backing Vocals @jamiedanielz
Eli Kleiner - Keyboard @eli.around
Bryant Whaley - Bass @bass_whisperer_bryant
Andrew Griffin - Drums @eastbaydrummer
Bryan Lamb - Sound
Chris Voorhees - Sound Mix
Chip Godwin - Video Edit

On the 104th anniversary of his birth (I don't believe in wishing happy birthday to people who are dead) I once again celebrate the lasting legacy of Jack Kerouac having just returned from a beautiful and magical trip to San Luis Obispo where he spent some months in 1953 working as a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad, following in his footsteps and basking in the unparalleled beauty of our beloved California - the beauty that prompted him to write in a letter to his mother, Gabrielle: "One thing sure, — California is beautiful and ideal and will be our home. ... Ma, I have a great little hotel room, $6 a week; I cook steaks, eggs, toast, coffee. ... The sun is warm, the birds sing in my window; at night I curl up & get a good sleep to the tune of crickets. You haven't lived till you've lived in California."

Indeed, you have not. And once again using the music of the Grateful Dead as an excuse to take to the road, I venture north in the Golden State to see @thegarciaproject at @slobrewlive. Listening to the beautiful and heartbreaking "Big Sur" as I drive, three hours up, wondering what was to come...three hours back down, already missing the beautiful souls I'd encountered there. All of it a sun-soaked, starlit dream. Thank you so much for my life. Thank you, Jack...for living the life you did.

Slide 1: Me outside the rooming house he stayed in, moments before I was very rudely, and quite unnecessarily kicked off the premises (as I was already leaving)...😉 by @pudmcqueen

"Shall we go? You and I while we can?" The answer for me was always a resounding YES. From what I thought would be the end at Fare Thee Well in 2015, to the unbelievable gift of 10 years of Dead and Company, to that last day in the Park on August 3, 2025. YES, Bobby. If you're going, I'm going. And I'll meet you where you are now, too, when it's my time. If you're there, I'm going, too.

I never could've predicted it. But of all the people on the planet who could have helped me get through the hardest ten years of my life, Bob Weir was the one to do it. And he never even knew. How do you thank a person for that? I guess you do it by waking up every day and trying to do it for someone else, however you can. You do it by chasing down the magic at all costs, never settling for the basic or the mundane. Spread love, spread joy, dance, sing, try to ignore the haters and the naysayers. (How dare they tell this man he's in a cover band, or that his tempo was too slow. He was a better man than I, because I don't forget that nonsense and who said it.) Dead and Company and Wolf Brothers were 21st Century Dead. Bobby with the orchestra was what I called, "End Stage Dead." Forgive the poor quality of these videos from New Orleans, but listen to that voice, backed up by heavenly strings. It was like he was singing to the angels. He belongs to them now. I feel so lucky to have heard it here on earth, and I'm excited to hear what he cooks up on the next plane of existence. I'll see you all there someday. Around and around we go.

I love Bob Weir. Now and forever. My heart is with his family, and all of you, my cherished friends and chosen family. by @pudmcqueen

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I'm so grateful for everything 2025 brought to me, the trials and the growth and the magic. So much magic...I'll share more as we go, but on this last day of the year I leave you with this video, and a great big THANK YOU, my friends, for being a part of my journey!

***Visit my REELS to see the whole video unedited***

So there I was, back in Joshua Tree National Park, after a five year absence, on December 21st, the day of the Winter Solstice, sitting on rocks that are millions of years old - and I had the thought to listen to something I wrote that had been inspired there, a song called "Hot August Nights," but as that song began playing on my phone, a bead of sweat fell from my forehead and landed on the phone, skipping my device to the NEXT song...THIS song...that I call "Lotta Lurn" - (written in 2019 before the pandemic derailed everything.) The desert said to me..."How about when you walk back to your car you just take a few minutes along the way and shoot a little video for THIS song?" And I said, "Hey, ok, that's a good idea." And so I did, and here it is - after all this time.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to watch and listen. I leave you with one last thought - on the hero's journey, which I hope you are all on, the things you create are as meaningful as any hit song or famous piece of art or movie. They're even more meaningful! If it comes from you, it's important. It doesn't matter if anyone else ever hears it (although it's nice to share and reach others) - all that matters is that what you make moves you, advances you forward, reminds you of who you are, where you've been and where you're going. Stay true to yourself, my friends. Life is so good...so cool...so beautiful. Full of adventure, and FUN, and Love, Love, LOVE.
