Exactly a year ago today…August 3, 2025

Day 3 of GD60: The sun finally came out.

It had been a hard weekend for me. I felt lost. Overwhelmed. Stuck in my head.

But on this day...I got my fire back.

Looking back, I realize I wasn’t just documenting an event. I was moving through my own grief while connecting with people carrying theirs, all while celebrating 60 years of this wonderful Grateful Dead music and community.

These raw, unedited super 8mm images hold so much emotion for me, and I know they hold that for many of you too, because we didn’t know we were witnessing Bobby’s final public performance that day.

They say grief is love that has nowhere else to go.

So yes, I understand now why I kept these images hidden in my vault…

THANK YOU for letting me capture your light on film.
I felt your love beaming that day. It was pure and magical.

It’s bittersweet to realize I never pointed my super 8 camera at Bobby on this day. Instead, I filmed all of you…the love, the joy, the community, how this music touches us.

We love and miss you, Bobby. ♥️🙏🥀⚡️

WEIR FOREVER GRATEFUL for you…Jerry, Phil, Pigpen, Brent, Robert and every soul who helped carry this music forward…
