Craftsmanship meets contemporary design.

And that's what stayed with me after watching First Cut by Pearl Academy Delhi at FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week.

From a slow fashion perspective, I loved seeing Indian craftsmanship find expression in contemporary, wearable garments. The attention to detail, the techniques, and the thoughtful use of colour showed how much the smallest design decisions can shape a garment.

As we run #KnowYourFashionWeek at Slow Fashion Movement this month, this is exactly the kind of conversation I want us to have. Fashion weeks are also spaces where emerging designers bring craft, culture and new ideas into the fashion landscape.

Because great design isn't only about what catches the eye on the runway. It's also about the thought, skill and craftsmanship that go into creating it.

Loved the weather, the route, the topography and, of course, the incredible cheerleading squad!

But I think my favourite part was seeing runners who had already finished their half marathon come back with their medals to cheer us on and push us towards that finish line. 🥹❤️

There's something so beautiful about a running community that doesn't stop showing up for you even after they've crossed their own finish line.

I know it can feel overwhelming. But I also know there's this omnipower of community. ❤️

Thank you @_dolly_dsouza_ for meeting me. Just what I needed right before @delhihalfmarathon

I can’t tell you how calming your presence felt. Guys, we spoke about running, work, life and everything in between and Dolly has such wisdom like...some conversations just leave you feeling lighter.

The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon became a reality for me because I found the courage to take that step. And that courage came not just from showing up for my training consistently, but also from a running community that keeps encouraging, supporting and cheering each other on.

Sometimes, all you need is a reminder that you’re not doing this alone. Thank you Dolly✨ by @puja_nvogue

I’m not training to become a pro runner. I’m just someone who is proud that she runs. And that’s enough for me.🏃‍♀️

But my journey has been made easier by the running community and experi3nced runners here.

The tips, insights, humour, encouragement and little nuggets of wisdom have helped me learn, improve and keep going. And I’m grateful for that.✨

But here’s the thing. My running journey is mine. Yours will be yours. Take advice, learn from others, but remember that every body, every race and every experience is different.

So, if you’re running VDHM this Sunday, here’s your little reminder:

🏃‍♀️ Taper well.
🥗 Eat well and hydrate.
🦵 Don’t overwork your legs this week, but keep them gently moving.
😴 Rest. Trust the training you’ve already done.
❤️ And most importantly, HAVE FUN!

You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. You’ve shown up, put in the miles and wl make it to the start line. That itself is worth celebrating.

See you in Delhi! Let’s run our own race. 🇮🇳

WE ARE RUNNING, NO MATTER WHAT! 🏃‍♀️😂

Because if a certain section of “the woke Gen” has opinions to express on the streets, so do our knees. And trust me, THEY ARE LOUD. 🤣

We've trained for months, woken up at 3ish... 4ish... in the morning, and some of us have even run at midnight to keep our running streaks alive. We've spent money. A LOT of money. And voluntarily signed up to run @delhihalfmarathon

At this point, I think we've suffered enough! 😂 But jokes apart, hoping for a safe and smooth Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon on 18 October. ❤️

Because the only protest I want to witness is my legs staging a full-blown demonstration at kilometre 18. 🤣
