Friday night, 145 dogs flew to safety to Chicago, Maryland, and New York in large part to Jake Paccione’s family and their efforts.

But for us, that isn’t the finish line—it’s just the beginning.

The need never disappears.

Shelters are past capacity and this is our part in helping relieve that. The most vulnerable need our help and we love doing this, day in, day out.

Our next flights will create more kennel space…& it’s all funded by the community.

The purest love i have ever known, my angel fur baby Coco who graced this world for 18 years, 4 months, and 1 week.

She was an owner surrender when she was 6 years old and the greatest unexpected gift of my life.

She passed away in my arms at the ICU at VCA on Jan 6th 12:17 pm.

thank you God for providing that last minute gift of me being there for Coco’s last breaths.
She was already mostly blind, in confusion and likely so scared, not knowing where she was as she had that last seizure, yet at the second when it counted the most for her in her entire life - you gave me the gift of being able to hold her in my arms & have her hear the same gentle lighthearted tone I always use with her.
She was instantly embraced by her mama and could pass to heaven without any fear with me by her side.

After a really bad seizure Monday night, we hospitalized Coco overnight still thinking that the anti-seizure medication would buy us more time to have her pass away in the comforts of home.

As of Tuesday morning 8 am she was good, but by 10:30 am - the doctored shared that she had another seizure & wasn’t couldn’t leave the oxygen chamber.

At 11am we awaited to spend the final moments with her in the comfort care room as VCA would gently put her down, but then we were alerted that we had to run to ICU because she had another seizure.

As I ran to her, 4 techs surrounded her during the chaos. I held her in my arms and put my head next to hers and kissed her and spoke to her calmly while i was in absolute state of shock .

She slightly jolted her head when she heard my voice 3 separate times, I could see how her eyes were changing because she was literally passing to the other side.

It’s been a very excruciating week, processing all of these moments and the shock of it all.

Thank you for your messages and reminding me that she is still here; our fur babies energy is still around us, and we will reunite again. That’s all i have left to cling on to.

This is the deepest and most visceral pain I’ve ever experienced in my life, but I’m grateful for this community because you all have been there and understand.

Her - an 9 yr old rescue in 2018 from @friendsofnorthcentralshelter who is now getting to go outside again.

We are learning together 🙏

For safety, we just go up and down up and down her street for 20 minutes and I ask my dad to just watch us.

He’s recovering from knee surgery so he just leans against his car and is on his phone but being silently present. Imagine that whole scenario lol 😭 Oj vey

It’s been about three weeks now and I would say by the second walk I was absolutely in love with her.
She is in love with me too 🥰💞

Will share more Lily adventures as we grow.

In just 24 hours, more than 200 pets were moved toward safety and given the opportunity to become part of a family.

What many people don’t realize is that receiving shelters are often marketing incoming pets before the planes even land, and adopters are already lined up waiting.

If more communities approached adoption this way, shelters across southern states would look very different.

Adopting truly saves lives. It really is that simple.

Among many things, the sleep deprivation alone all year is a serious issue for dogs left in shelters, and our sweet Amber.

She is a green eyed chonky 5 yr old princess who needs a loving foster or forever home in SoCal.

She snorts, she snacks, she is a chew toy connoisseur. She has her own emotional support stuffie that she keeps in her kennel & goes to potty breaks with.

When it comes to dogs, her shelter notes @agouraanimalslaco share;
✨ calm dogs only- and if they respect her space & boundaries. She gives corrections when pushed.

As someone put it “she’s a peach 🍑 who knows her boundaries & how to communicate them safely.”

Bully breed community please do your thing because all of her posts haven’t found her person.

Amber is this magical unicorn hippo bean who has been overlooked at the shelter all year.

So weird.

We are looking for a ➡️ long term foster in SoCal so that a solid rescue that we already work with can find her forever home.
And if you fall in love with her, foster fails welcome.

Amber is a sweet green eyed girl who weighs about 60lbs, is a low rider with a flare for the dramatics 💅

She snorts, she snacks, she is a chew toy connoisseur. She has her own emotional support stuffie that she keeps in her kennel & goes to potty breaks with.

Anyone else like their jammies oversized for Fall? 🍂🧣

Bean is almost done with his training program!!

but funds for his rescue @treat.pet.rescue are needed ✨asap for another 2 weeks + more boarding time until we find Bean a long term foster or adopter.

The bonus of fostering Bean is that you have one of the best trainers around to help transition to a home at no extra cost to you.

Bean went to train with @redemptiontails.llc NOT to learn now to socialize with other dogs ( he’s exceedingly dog friendly with both little and large dogs ) but to ➡️ build up his confidence and security when he meets new people.

When I visited him to take photos, he was so happy to see this lady who was walking up the street and he happily took treats from her 😭

I took footage of that moment so I will be posting that soon as well so we could see his progress.

So please send this to any bully breed families in California who have been looking for a bean!!!!

It took 39 days to try and find a plan for Lola.

She was first abandoned at Downey shelter as a 3 month old puppy and by the time she was 1, she was abandoned there a total of 3 times.
 I couldn’t bear it.

With euth dates approaching dogs faster than ever before at Downey, each day that nothing came thru filled me with dread.

She can’t be returned three times and then be put down.

Then a few miracles started lining up and everything starting working out for her -  Lola’s foster said yes - she couldn’t bear to have anything to happen to her either. @sunraycreations @jessiebones
 The community here all chipped in for training @redemptiontails.llc so that she can decompress and focus on on skills since she is a 1 yr old working dog.
 And all this allowed one of the best rescues @stacyhoperescue to pull her immediately.   And now we are so blessed to even get these updates is just another miracle to me.

Lola is having the 👏 of 👏 her life 👏
She loves her morning hikes, meeting new people and makes friends with all dogs. She has a foster sister called Annie showing her the ropes too 🥹 More videos of that soon.

One would think that if she was returned three times that something is wrong with her, but she got to live and share that that is not the case

A few hours ago, as I was taking our Dolly to get her teeth cleaned, right there by the door was a 16 year-old doxie called Molly, who was identical to my beloved Coco who passed.

We were running a few minutes late by accident but now I could see it was no accident.

I burst into tears when I saw her at the door and asked if I could hold her, and the ladies there gave me a hug as I was literally breaking down when holding her.

She had the same lovely smell about her, same exact feel in my hands, and the same temperament.

It was as if the heavens opened up & allowed me to hold Coco one more time.

I was immensely grateful.

Has anyone else had the experience of getting to hold an identical pup to theirs after passing?

Please share if you did.

It was quite surreal the surreal experience for me & didn’t ever realize I would have that chance 🙏

Dear Jack,   I heard you have a house now, that you love, LOVE the trails, watching the sunset and snuggling with your mom after.   Every time I get your updates my heart bursts and I can’t imagine what could have been. I can’t fathom it. All I saw a handsome big boy who was broken hearted. And I thought that maybe some photos could help find a rescue and a foster.
 I didn’t know it was your final hours. I thought because you were walking so close to the freedom gate that it meant a rescue was pulling up in the parking lot.   I remember sending your photo to one of my favorite trainers and she loved you on the spot and told me to get you.
 When it was shared that it was actually your final hours, I raced back to Downey. My phone was nearly dead but I knew if I stopped to charge it, I wouldn’t make it by 5pm.

I got there by 4:50 and you walked out of the gate at 5:13pm.  I’ll never get over it. I love you so much.
