Melissa Knox explains the puzzling behavior and actions throughout Wilde’s lifetime. She breaks down the intentions behind Salome and the jarring consequences of his actions in De Profundis. I have always been fascinated by Wilde’s writings and I see him as a deeply introspective man who failed to understand himself. Through his work, I also see a man desperate for attention and affection yet deliberately trying to ruin his image in the society. As much as he is appreciated for his repartee, his untimely and misplaced wit also led him to descend quickly to a horrid death.

This book dives deeper into details of how being “deprived of Books and conversations he was forced to think thoughts that defile, desecrate, and destroy.” These were the vices that were embedded in his flesh. The book also talks about how he referred to homosexuality as sexual madness, and to his terrible offenses as diseases to be cured by a physician rather than crimes to be punished by a judge.

It was fascinating to know the writers description about his ostentatious way of dressing, the reason behind attacking the upper English classes, and his failed trials to covertly make homosexuality socially acceptable. This book will be a delight to read for Oscar Wilde’s fans who love him deeply or secretly.

I have always been fascinated by the Hobbit life. Collecting their merch, be it candles or mugs is the closest I can get to it. But this has been such a surprise as I didn’t even know this cute mug existed. Thank Youuu @pagesoftheages for this cutest birthday present. I am so much in awe of how well you know me and are so proficient in always selecting the right gift for me. You are such a precious soul and a blessing in my life. 🫶

And thank you @fictionbathco for the loveliest pamper box. Also for creating such wonderful pieces and bringing magic to peoples lives.

Everything is better when we are together. Except the bland food of course, and the crowd, and the interrogating staff 😜 @aarontherich ❤️ Oh the places you pick!!

A very inconsistent storyline with its characters scattered. I could sympathize with Dick Diver until he dives into alcoholism and betrays his wife. Either pushed into all of this because of his troubled marriage or the pressures of society, his behavior could not be justified. If you convince a “mentally unstable” extremely possessive and observant woman to marry you, the consequences are for you to bear. If you are going to provoke your wife’s insecurities and lack of trust by flirting with other women, then again, the consequences are for you to bear.

And sometimes you let people fall into your tragic loop resulting in an inevitable heartbreak and a sad end for Rosemary. Though the book is written for you to sympathize with her, my heart went out to Nicole. Her unruly ways and destructive behavior was only the result of her abusive father and then her cheating husband. She saw it all. There is nothing more debilitating than a cheating partner and a failing relationship.

The book could be considered racist, gender biased and very anti American.

The Great Gatsby remains a hit while this was a miss.

Thank you @aakaansha.singh for these lovely books and the cutest bookmark; and thinking of me when you first saw the title ‘women who love too much.’ Idk how befitting it is but I am certain it is a blessing and a curse.

Can’t wait to read these!! Love you! 🫂❤️😘

There is an unspoken peace within you when you are surrounded by books. A feeling only a reader would understand. A blessed solace!
