You know what’s pretty cool?

Watching Delwyn do box jumps today.
Actually, watching her everyday reminds me of why we do what we do.

One thing I’ve always admired about Delwyn is she’s determined. If there’s something she can’t do yet, she doesn’t make excuses or write herself off. She just keeps working away at it. Quietly. Consistently. One step at a time.

She’s always trying to be the best version of herself she can be. Looking after her health, staying strong, and giving herself every opportunity to keep doing the things she loves with the people she loves.

The really cool part is that her kids were some of the people encouraging her to get into the gym in the first place. Now they train alongside her. How awesome is that? As a parent, you can’t ask for a much better example to set.

I don’t think Delwyn realises how many people she’s inspiring around her. There’ll be people watching her today thinking, “If Delwyn can do that, maybe I can too.”

That’s the stuff I love about this place!

A box jump to one person might just be a box jump. To someone else, it’s proof of what they’re capable of.

There’s something pretty special about watching a whole bunch of people voluntarily walk into something they know is going to hurt… and then somehow have the best day doing it.

Yesterday @nextlevelfitnessrace was exactly that.

So many of our PUSH whānau out on the track puttin in some hard mahi and finding another gear when the first few had well and truly disappeared.

Hard things are funny like that. They don’t necessarily get easier because you’re surrounded by good people. Your legs still hurt. Your lungs are still cooked. The work is still yours to do. But having people beside you, people yelling from the sidelines and people who understand exactly what it took to get there changes the weight of it.

Maybe that’s why we keep choosing to do things like this. Not because suffering is fun 😂 but because every now and then it’s good to find the edge of what you think you can do… and take one more step past it.

Yesterday was a pretty cool example of what happens when a community decides to do hard shit together.

Ka mau te wehi, e te whānau. He tino whakahīhī mātou ki a koutou katoa. 🖤 by @push___fitness

When we started Push, this was always part of the vision.

We never wanted to just open a gym where you come in, train for an hour and head home. We wanted to build something that genuinely added to people’s lives, where getting stronger and fitter was only one part of it.

Whanaungatanga has always been a big part of what we wanted Push to be. Not just talking about community, but actually creating the opportunities for people to connect, learn, grow and do things alongside each other. That’s a big part of why we do what we do.

PUSH10 is another piece of that.

Āe, it’s 10 weeks, but what matters most to us is what you take from it afterwards. A few better habits, a bit more understanding of yourself, maybe doing something you didn’t think you could.

The next 10 weeks won’t look the same for everyone .. and that’s exactly the point.

Whatever you take from it, we hope some of it stays with you long after PUSH10 finishes.

Can’t wait to see where it takes us. 🤎

A special thank you to @unluggyuso for capturing PUSH10 and bringing our vision to life.

Coach @shauny_g16 and @vegas_muscle_conditioning doing what they do best, sharing years of experience, breaking down the finer details of the deadlift and bench press, and showing our PUSH10 crew that sometimes the smallest adjustments make the biggest difference.

These two know their stuff, and having coaches who can explain not just how to lift, but why we do things a certain way is something we really value at PUSH.

Strength will always be a big part of what we do here. Not just for heavier lifts or bigger numbers, but because being strong makes life outside the gym easier too. It builds confidence, keeps us capable as we age, helps us move well and gives us the freedom to keep doing the things we love right?!

And there’s a bit of whanaungatanga in sharing knowledge too. When one person learns, we all get better.

Massive mihi to Shauny G and Colin for giving their Sunday morning to our crew. Two absolute weapons with a whole lot of knowledge between them! 💚 by @push___fitness

Meet @_rubymarquand 💚

If you’ve shared a class with Ruby, chances are you’ve shared a laugh with her too. We’re not entirely sure how she still manages to smile through some of the workouts, but we appreciate it!

Behind all those laughs is someone who’s made a pretty cool commitment to herself.

To get stronger. To build confidence. To make time for her own hauora and stick with it, even when life gets busy.

And while we love seeing people get stronger in the gym, watching them become more comfortable and confident in themselves is pretty hard to beat.

We hope Push becomes more than just somewhere Ruby comes to train. Somewhere she feels comfortable, supported and proud of herself for showing up.

The smiles are already there. Now we get to watch that confidence grow 💚 by @push___fitness

Some people just make your day that little bit better, and our Aunty @fionap2016 is absolutely one of those people. 💚

Now, we know she isn’t one for a fuss, but there’s absolutely no way we were letting this milestone go by without giving her some well-deserved flowers.

She turns up, gets stuck in, never complains and somehow always has a smile on her face. A little reminder to the rest of us that attitude goes a long way!

Fiona, we absolutely adore you. The warmth, kindness and energy you bring through our doors are just a few of the reasons we’re so grateful to have you as part of our whānau.

70 years young, still showing up, still getting stronger and still keeping us on our toes!

He taonga koe, Fiona. You are a treasure.

Arohanui from all of us at Push! 💚 by @push___fitness

Hari huritau to our @amylaititi 🤍

There really is only one Amy 😂

Loud, funny, slightly chaotic, forgets what she’s doing halfway through doing it and somehow knows someone everywhere we go.

But anyone who really knows Amy knows just how big her heart is.

She loves her people hard and would genuinely do anything for the people she cares about. She quite literally will give you the socks on her feet or the hat on her head if you needed it. She gives so much of herself, always has time for a yarn, will hype you up when you need it and can make pretty much anyone feel like they’ve known her for years.

She is everything good in the world 🥹

She brings a lot of life wherever she goes! Things are louder, funnier and a little more chaotic when she’s around… and we wouldn’t have it any other way 😂

Hari huritau e hoa 🫶🏽 A little something from all of us because we love ya heaps. A song. A music video. A true labour of love 😂🤍

Yeooow!

What a couple of days for our PUSH10 Endurance whānau! 🥵🔥 The heat was something else and definitely made an already tough test that much harder!

How good was it watching people surprise themselves?! Amongst all the hard mahi, there was plenty of laughter, mates getting through it together, whānau cheering each other on and people sticking around to tautoko those still going.

That’s the good stuff! That’s whanaungatanga. 💚

Week 1 benchmark is set! In Week 10 we come back, give it another crack and see what nine weeks of mahi can do.

No comparing, no chasing anyone else. Just YOU vs YOU.

He mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. The effort, the manawaroa and the support over these two days were something special.

Ka rawe, e te whānau! 💚 by @push___fitness

Every month, we want Ngā Tāne to be a constant for our men. A space to show up, get a sweat on, have a kōrero and start the day feeling a little better than when they arrived.

Each month we’ve seen it grow, not just in numbers but in the support and tautoko our men show one another.

There’s no pressure to open up, but the space is there if you want to. Our hope is that everyone leaves with a clearer head, a full cup and a good start to the week ahead.

That’s what Ngā Tāne is about. WAY more than just a workout. 💚 by @push___fitness

One of the coolest things about learning Te Reo Māori is realising you don’t actually need to know heaps before you can start using it.

This coming week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori- Māori Language Week. For us at Push, its not something we want to celebrate for a week, then put back on the shelf.. Rather, It’s about continuing to make reo the norm in our space.

It’s something we try to weave into everyday life here at Push. Not perfectly, and definitely not just for the sake of it, but because it fits who we are and the kind of space we want Push to be.

Even our values - whanaungatanga, pakari and manawaroa, are things you see play out in here every day.

So while next week gives us a reason to celebrate te reo a little louder, hopefully you already hear it and see it around here all year round.

And this week, we just want to encourage you to have a go.

You don’t have to know heaps. You don’t have to pronounce everything perfectly. Just use what you know, learn something new, ask someone if you’re unsure… and kōrero.

Because the only way we’re going to hear more te reo is if we actually use it.

So kaua e whakamā - give it a go.

Kōrero Māori mai, kōrero Māori atu.

Kia kaha te reo Māori. 🤎 by @push___fitness
