The gym is not just about getting strong and physically healthy. For some it’s about mental health too. 😅💪🧡🤸🏻

Also, I don’t like TEAM WODs. Here, I said it 🤷‍♀️😂still love the WOD vibes. But I love to train on my own a lot. Just not in a regular gym. That’s now my vibe. How about you?

POV: You start enjoying to work out when you stop 🛑 exercising to burn calories and started training for performance and strength 🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♂️.
Women over 50 shouldn’t do fad 1200 calories diets but eat properly for energy, hormonal balance, performance and building strength.

It’s a permanent struggle not to fall for the next hot 💩on the supplements market - I never scroll without discovering a new great powder with even more creatine and better electrolytes and whatnot. 😹
But my experience tells me to focus on the basics (which for me is electrolytes in the morning, Omega 3, Magnesium and Vit D). And of course creatine, around 10mg a day 💪💪💪

Chasing a certain number on the scale is not only BS and frustrating it also says nothing about body composition, how strong you are and how you feel and look. It’s a number. Rather increase the number on the barbell because that is SO MUCH BETTER AND MORE FUN 🤩🏋️‍♀️.

And aim for 30grams of protein per meal of course 😬💪💪💪🤓🙂‍↔️ don’t starve yourself. You need fuel for life and the gym. And mental health too because food is awesome 🤩

Just some little pieces of wisdom from an old friend 😅

#fitover50 #strongnotskinny #menopause by @pushpressandpeanutbutter

After surviving cancer I am extra grateful for the things my body and mind can do.
I can move and have fun doing it.
I don’t need medication. No pain meds, no HRT.
I have a good nights sleep 😴. Which is huge and not a matter of course.
I can afford good whole food and enjoy eating it without worrying about it.

‘It’s too late to start getting fit in my 50s or 60s…I am too old now….’
Excuse me ? All women out there over 50 must realize that getting fit and building muscle is like your life insurance. Without it you will decline much faster.
Muscle has a huge impact on your hormones, metabolism, brain function, skin health, mental health, bone health and it will fight this stubborn waistline fat you hate so much.
So lift weight like your life depends on it. Because it does.

The simple basic things are the ones that are my fundamentals. I need just a small group of people, I love my whole and healthy food that a lot of people find boring and my 8hrs of sleep and I love to move my body several times a week. Those boring basic things make me thrive even during menopause. No need for fancy things. Just execution.
