Here's a painting that has been a bi-product of extreme overwhelm over the past 2-3 months while finding short pockets of calm as I keep going over childhood memories in my head.
The paradise flycatcher pair was something I used to look forward to spotting during the winters of the later half of my school days. Hopping on a 5:30 am bus that sounded like a gigantic tambourine and making way to 'the Valley' was almost suggestive that I'd eventually grow up to have some real exciting hobbies. While the bird watching stint was temporary, at least for me if not my friends, I'm glad that the painting bit stayed and I'm able to get my hands all coloured as I try to navigate through this dark and grey, self-nurtured emotional crisis.

Three issues in - the evo India (@evoindia) magazine has now transformed into a mag-book since its milestone, 150th issue. The new design direction not only meant newer paper substrates, a larger canvas, and never-done-before printing techniques and processes, but also cleaner layouts, simpler grids, a lot of breathing room and more pop of colour.

The past few years, I've been training myself to be a designer who believes 'less is more' and purposefully done minimalism. While there is constant learning to be put-in in this run, I thought I should add here, an archive of selected typefaces we've used for some of the feature stories in the past 3 months. Our approach so far has been selection of pre-existing typefaces and adding a simple treatment based on function rather than construction of original typography.

These quarterly-archival-typeface posts are multi-purpose - first and foremost, it allows me to celebrate the talented photographers like @rohitmane.photography @avdhootfoxphotography @redshifter07 among others, that I have the fortune to work with. I feel that my design and art direction work for the mag-book is simply a humbling layer to shed a necessary spotlight on their work. Secondly, this might just serve as a Type design inspiration + discovery for a few budding publication designers in the process. And lastly, it sure could be a nice record to see how far I've come, eventually. ✏️

After a year of ideating and creating packaging for brands like @haldirams_nagpur and @mellownco.official with the kind-hearted and talented folks at @thereforedesignpune I was presented an opportunity to design for the ever-flourishing @evoindia automotive magazine, in December 2025.

The next 4 months, @sanmit_bhagwat and I spent understanding, learning and practicing how to build upon evo's natural and 13-year-long legacy. A small milestone of the effort is this mag-book. evo India's #150th issue is a special one.

Exploring newer substrates and print tech no other automotive magazine in India has explored, and retaining the same enthusiastic writing with stellar imagery and a touch of design done with a part of soul put in it. That is the whole essence of it.
It's not just a magazine anymore, it's a carefully designed collectible compilation of sweet memories and hearty stories behind the wheel that stay with you as long as you want. Get yourself the evo mag-book and spend a few hours or many, reading it.

तीन पायांचा घोडा (Three Legged Horse) directed by @noopurbora will make you cry, put wide smiles on your face, make you feel suffocated and at times extremely curious and impatient for the story to unfold. It is stunning, alive, relevant, overwhelmingly uneasy and yet delicate to say the least. Releasing on 7th of November, 2025. ✨

As much as I enjoy long, slow-cooked projects. I adore myself quick ones like this typography exercise done for the sweet @mary.ann.alexander 's plush track 'The Lovely Dovey Song'.
It's the projects like this that make the process of creation mindless in all the good ways and intuition-driven. Just an off-the top doodle that serves the aesthetic purpose and simply works. And especially if the created element is to support a stunning shoot done by the very skilled @lekharathnam. Not to forget @sangnesta09 for always presenting sweet opportunities like such! 🌼
I enjoy working alongside musicians and I really hope to keep creating for more as the years pass by. 🤞🏻 taken in Pune, India by @putwij_
