In 2013, I emptied out my 401k and started a business. I bought a camera, some lights and registered my ein. I was finishing up playing arena football and needed to do something for myself to prove that I wasn’t just an athlete. I was living in Pittsburgh at the time and my goal was to become a YouTuber.

I started recording myself watching Lions games and reacting, which led to me creating some funny viral moments, which led to me making a final casting call for WWE Tough Enough, which I didn’t get.

I kept going and kept meeting people; NFL athletes, Olympians, and In 2016, I shot the retirement fight for heavyweight boxer Brian Minto. I decided I was going to make a documentary and feature film on his life, so I enrolled in film school.

At the same time, I made a parody of a documentary about the Crying Jordan meme that went viral, which led to me getting a start with an online sports channel.

In 2017, I got the opportunity to work with some of the biggest stars in the wrestling world, I shot a video wall, and I contributed to the main storyline at TNA Slammiversary 2017. This was also around the time I ventured out west to see California. I saw a real sunset for the first time and was hooked.

In 2019, I traveled to Hong Kong to do a follow up story with a futbol player who saw one of my videos and emptied out his life savings to rehab in America. He told me it changed the trajectory of his life and career. When I got back to America, I met and filmed with Ronda Rousey, Ben Gordon and more and it made me realize, it’s only one place I’m going to get this done, Hollywood.

So when the pandemic hit, I made a 3 day trek out west to Orange County, CA. It took me awhile, but the next year I landed a gig as a producer at a betting company. I got the chance to host a tv show and do some of the dumbest shit imaginable in front of a viewing audience, but once that ended, I was staring down the barrel of a gun.

I wanted to quit this journey and go back home. The people I was out here with left, I was unemployed (reoccurring theme) and broke (REOCCURRING FUCKING THEME).

I had choices, but the one I picked was [Don’t be a bitch] or Be a bitch and g by @q3_media

The Draft Process - A Film by DeQwan Young

In April, only 1.6% of eligible NCAA football players were drafted to the NFL. The Draft Process is a firsthand guide on how to make it to the highest levels of football, and how it was accomplished.

The story follows filmmaker @day_qwan in an effort to locate some of his football memorabilia. As he searches for his old relics, he discovers that he is connected to a greater football family.

The Draft Process also feature stories from former NFL, AFL and CFL standouts such as @colemanlamonte, @t_bent92, @mnvrmmbbd, @mrletsgoooo, @bkelley64, @soulair_, @mr_byrdman_2_u, @praymaker and more!

First screenings tentatively scheduled for November 13th and 14th at the Parkway Theater in McKees Rocks, PA. Box Office announcement coming soon.
